If things aren’t right, do something to improve them

One of the cool aspects of Christian Science is that it teaches you how to master any untoward situation you face. You are never helpless. There is always something you can do to overturn wrong with right.

Mary Baker Eddy wrote, “The divine Mind is the Soul of man, and gives man dominion over all things”
(Science and Health, p. 307).
Think about it. “Dominion over all things!” That is an astounding statement to the human mind, but reality with divine Mind.

Divine Mind is more than any problem you’ll ever encounter. Mind is the master of disease, the resolver of conflict, the provider of supply, the giver of all good, the fountain of life. When you have Mind, you have everything you need to stay healthy, to break bonds, to correct injustice, to conquer fear, to stay well and to follow through with right ideas.

Never cave to a feeling of helplessness! You are never helpless. Mind is your Helper. You can do all things through God, and with Mind’s help.

If things aren’t right, lean on Mind and correct them. Exercise your God-given dominion to act intelligently, to stay strong and healthy and to see Truth manifest.

As Eddy reminded us, “Man, created by God, was given dominion over the whole earth”
(Science and Health, p. 545)
. Any challenge you face is your opportunity to exercise your dominion. Be sure to do it, and decisively!

  1. Is that utmost loving and freeing us through God`s endless Love to all His creation!
When we have Mind, we have everything we need to stay healthy, well and happy. So you said. After this loving treatment we can start with reading our weekly lesson into a wonderful and joyfilled God`s day. Thank you so very much, dear Evan! 🙂

  2. Thank you Evan, this is just what I need today. I really appreciate that thought that we are never helpless, and that statement from Science and Health ” The divine Mind is the Soul of man, and gives man dominion over all things.” Mind is the provider of all good, including health, supply, and fearlessness. This is a Great way to start our Wednesday.

  3. Thank you, Evan!!

When friends ask me for the gist of Christian Science, I usually say, “We are never helpless or alone.”

    1. Thank you Evan, another great blog!
Thank you Jay, I often struggle to know what to say . . . not any more

  4. Follow through with right ideas, I’m learning minute by minute, to express that dominion over confrontation with MULTIPLE demands, to follow through. I am learning minute by minute to listen and follow God’s right idea, and I’m never disappointed with the results. Case in point, one item wasn’t available at the first of three stores, so my husband and I waited for God to point the direction, which of the two remaining stores to drive to and find the item needed? The choice proved, listening first, was followed by locating the item was at the store where we were directed, The chore was done in the time allotted.
“I will listen for thy voice…follow and rejoice.”
    Thank you Evan!

  5. I’m thankful that I’m really starting to grasp the idea that things are already and always right and good in the true realm of Spirit, God, but that it is we who need to bring our thinking in line with this absolute Truth. I am so grateful for CS, this blog, and all the watchful thinkers out there. We are all God’s children and will all realize this reality at the right time, but in the meantime it’s so important for us to be realizing this about ourselves and our neighbors (everyone) right now.

  6. Thank you Evan for listening and sharing Divine Ideas..I have recently felt besieged and overcome by “monkey mind” rattlings..Dominion was a key word for me today..I am grateful..

  7. “to break bonds”…. got me thinking. Yes I do have what I need to break bonds with anything that is not to my benefit. Thank you!

  8. Dear Bevi, I hope you are reading these blogs even if not commenting. Both of my parents were class taught Christian Scientists. I was an unwanted child, so whenever I had a physical problem, I was taken to my family doctor (the one who delivered me) and he would prescribe non- medical treatments, since we were Christian Scientists. Case in point. When I was in the 6th grade I developed open sores over my entire body. He prescribed baking soda to relieve the burning sensation. I applied baking soda to my sores every time I took a bath. I missed about a month from school before I was able to return. This has not deterred me from living my life in compliance with the teachings of Christian Science. I pray that you too will find your way to know the Truth that will set you free from the past.
Christian Science is the absolute Truth even if all of its followers aren’t living in accord with its teachings.

      1. Thank you, Grateful and Susan! Yes, I do tune in to view Spiritview and its Comments, but have felt a need to step back from commenting for a while. Its so important to be true to ourselves, no matter what, and to cultivate our own personal, individual relationship with the God of our own understanding. Yes, I do feel C.S. is the Truth, but it’s often gotten distorted by the orthodoxy of the Religion i.e. people clinging to the old “C.S. Culture” and making up “rules” about what it means to be a “Real” C.Ser. I’m all for tearing down walls and reaching out to other Religions and Groups and sharing the Science of Healing that C.S. offers. Who cares if they are Buddhists, Catholics, Presbyterians, Twelve Steppers, Hindus…..the Real C.S. that Mrs. Eddy brought forward is for Everyone! So grateful that the Newly Elected First Reader of The Mother Church is an African American Woman from Nigeria! Woo Hoo! Way to Go, Board of Directors!!

  9. Thanks all for your comments. Knowing that Mind is always with us and there is never a time it is not
