What is impressing you today? Health, harmony, peace, love, wisdom, God’s goodness? Hopefully.
There might be a temptation to entertain lesser states of thought when temptations to get angry, frustrated, or ill coming knocking at the mental door. But we possess God given dominion to reject evil and accept good. We can turn away any suggestions to live anything less than joyful and healthy.
Mary Baker Eddy reminds us, “Suffer no claim of sin or of sickness to grow upon the thought” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 390). These are wise words.
If you don’t want to live it, don’t think it! Think on the good and the true.
Think on what you want to live out. Think on the health, harmony and peace of God which naturally belong to you as a child of God. Suffer nothing less to grow upon the thought. You’ll be far better off.
Thnak you so much
Thank you Evan! Will be sharing this to “let only the impress of good grow in thought”. This can be applied to the whole world. God is so Good!
Love the phrase from Shania Twain’s song: “That Don’t Impress me Much.” I have said that out loud to a physical complaint. Science and Health takes care of this cocky voice:
“Material sense lifts its voice with the arrogance of reality and says: I am wholly dishonest, and no man knoweth it. … I am enthroned in the gorgeousness of matter. … Like bursting lava, I expand but to my own despair, and shine with the resplendency of consuming fire.”
(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 252:16–18, 25–26, 28)
My Teacher said, Grace is spiritual
poise, where we don’t react,
A contestant, interview, with others.
Having spiritual poise our face, body
language, voice, and words, don’t change.
We show forth the beauty of Soul.
Thank you for sharing that definition of grace.
Thankyou Evan. I Love this , I’ve been reading Henry Drummonds book The Greatest Thing in the World. based on the Love Chapter 1st Corinthians 13. your message is so timely. thanks again
much Love

I love this thought by Evan, “If you don’t want to live it, don’t think it! Think on the good and the true.” That definitely applies to me today. A device died and I’m hoping further charging clears the cache and it comes back to life or another solution comes to light. Thoughts of frustration, annoyance and dread are clamoring at the door of thought for entrance. Instead, I’m praying to see this as an opportunity for spiritual application. All that I can expect from this experience is an unfoldment of good, even though the situation would try to tell me otherwise. Today’s SV is perfect for keeping thought on track, thank you.
Thank you, J, for this excellent article. I loved this statement: “ Whatever the need may be, there is a spiritual law—a law based on fixed Principle—that can show us what we need to see. We should never be frightened or impressed by what the physical senses perceive; such perception is material effect. True cause is divine; its true effect is always perfect.” This spiritual law governs your challenge today, J. Thank you for taking time to share.
Thank you for the encouraging words Joan. I appreciate it very much. Things with my device turned out better than expected, so I was grateful.
Dear J, This is a really great article that adds on to Evan’s message
of what is impressing us today. Thank you for sharing it. “Health,
harmony, peace, love, wisdom, God’s goodness” – all wonderful
qualities that we express, be it in our devices or anything that seems
to be causing us anxiety, fear or trouble. The comfort which comes
from thinking what we want to live is a blessing that is in tune with
“Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human
need”. When we are tempted (and that temptation sure can seem
very real at times), we need to embrace the harmony that is ours –
given to us by this Love and feel God’s goodness that is holding us
in the very Truth of our Being. Divine Love is meeting your needs
and all of our needs right now. Peaceful thoughts of calm and trust.
Comforting and very helpful thoughts Carol, thank you so much.
Thank you, Evan! And thank you, J, for this article, It states that “we should never be frightened or impressed by what the physical senses perceive….” Mary Baker expounds on this statement in “Christian Healing” when she writes: “ The only evidence we have of sin, sickness, or death is furnished by [the five physical] senses; but how can we rely on their testimony when the senses afford no evidence of Truth? They can neither see, hear, feel, taste, nor smell God; and shall we call that reliable evidence through which we can gain no understanding of Truth, Life, and Love? Again, shall we say that God has created those senses through which it is impossible to approach Him?” (Hea. 16:17-22).
