Make decision-making easier

“It’s not hard to make decisions when you know what your values are.”

~ Roy Disney

What are your values? What is most important to bring out in your life? When you are clear on answers to these questions, decision-making is much easier.

  1. Thanks, Evan and Patricia. This sent me right to JSH-Online to look up articles about values, I found this helpful in an editorial by Helen Wood Bauman:

“…thought can never be actually spiritualized or divine power obtained while illusion is evaluated as reality. But the denial of matter brings an awakening from the mesmeric mind which claims to produce it, and God’s spiritual realm, intact and immutable, is gradually perceived. . . .No lesson is more dearly needed by all mankind than that of banishing faith in matter, belief in and dependence upon mesmeric illusion. . . the worth of [men’s] lives rests in the abundance of the integrity and love they express.”

  2. I appreciate the thought of Spiritview this evening however I love dearly the quote that Diane w. a. shared! Thank you thank you thank you

  3. MBE state in effect that we must eliminate fear. When we take fear away and we have our values set it becomes much easier to make that critical decision because we are free from the thought of error.

    1. Thank you for pointing out that we must eliminate a false sense of fear. We are not afraid, because God, good did not make is afraid.

  4. I enjoyed this as I’m in a process of finding a new place to live. I had forgotten I used to periodically write down what I generally value most in life. Whatever it is will be also helpful in any decision making.

  5. Is it not true that by Mrs. Eddy’s thinking, both a tall pine tree and a Sherman tank are “matter” that grow from seeds or ideas? Perhaps we should reconsider that matter is spirit “(thought energy”) condensed into form – since in reality there is only one presence -that God is all in all- as the Bible and physical science are agreeing more and more closely. As ideas of God – individualized centers of Mind (fully endowed with presence and power as image and likeness of our Source) – and by the universal law of cause and effect, we project form as we so choose. Without matter there would be no concept of choice or need for decisions and hence no evolution. This day can reveal much about the heart and soul of Americans. Which delights us most on this July 4th?

    1. Very very helpful when discerning how we view matter when choosing what is real. “in reality there is only one presence -that God is all in all- as the Bible and physical science are agreeing more and more closely.”
      Thank you immensely, Patty

  6. To answer Evan’s question, what are your values, and what is most important to bring out in my Life is a) what Patricia said, b) to love my neighbor as myself c) to love myself enough in order to be able to love my neighbor enough. Yes and to pray to understand my oneness with our Father-Mother God better.
I think there is the weekly lesson sermon, studied daily very useful and helpful.
Thank you, Evan for again letting us ponder such an important topic.

Thank you Karen for the link to that article. It works fine, I can print it out.

  7. Very timely. After a year of working through grief and shock at the passing of my beloved schnauzer Ceilidh Rose, I am finally going to meet a possible new fur buddy tomorrow. The comments here regarding handling fear and recognizing important elements such as values and the difference between spirituality and matter are all useful thoughts in my prayer today.

  8. What you value most, really does clarify how we make big and little decisions doesn’t It? For example do we pursue a career for the money that can be made, or for the blessings it can afford to others? Do we make time for spiritual study and growth or put social life, pop culture as the priority? Are we volunteering to do those jobs at church that are in need of being filled or letting someone else take care of it. If spirituality and love for God and man are what I value, then the answers are pretty clear! What an inspiring way to make all our decisions! Thank you, Evan, simple but very profound!
