Not a data bank for error

August 18, 2021 | 36 comments

As a child of God, you are not designed to be a data bank for error. You are designed to be an expresser of spiritual Truth!

Some people are tempted to carry around error, like they have an obligation to store it in their thought and keep track of it. Perhaps they carry around grudges, complaints, resentments, or anger. Or worse, beliefs of disease, suffering and pain. Like an old closet accumulating junk from the past, the human mind tends to hold onto evil beliefs from the past that should be promptly discarded.

It’s liberating to understand that you do not need to carry bad inventory around in consciousness.

To live healthy and happy, be quick to clean mental house and discard all the old mental junk that would weigh you down. What happened materially yesterday does not determine what happens spiritually today.

It is your God-given design to be spiritually minded, to be aware of Love and inspired by Truth.

Evil is foreign to your nature. It’s not natural and normal to be conscious of evil and harbor it like it belongs to you. It’s normal and natural to be aware of infinite Love and omnipotent Truth!

Don’t be a recorder for error. Be an expresser of Truth!

Clean mental house and let only a pure consciousness of Truth and Love dominate.

Carry around in thought only what you wish to see expressed in your life.

  1. What a great reminder!!! Especially the sentence ‘Don’t be a recorder for error. Be an expresser of Truth’ will be my gudeline for today!! Thank you, Evan

  2. That’s a very pertinent last line…’
‘Carry around in thought only what you wish to see expressed in your life.’
Thank you Evan….a great reminder of what is really important to achieve❣️

  3. Thank you, Evan, for this article that contains the exact “angel thoughts” that I needed to hear to discard the incoming” data” of error that is trying to store itself in my consciousness and argue for the “truth” and fear of a claim of disease. Such important reminders that we are “not designed to be a data bank for error”, that we are not “obligated” to “carry around error ” “store it in our thoughts: and “keep track of it.” Oh, my goodness, that speaks so clearly to how claims want to establish themselves in thought and be carried around in consciousness. “Don’t be a recorder for error. Be an expresser of Truth!” Yes, yes, yes! Thank you, so much, Evan.

    1. Grateful for this article William with its reminder that Mrs Eddy says “our material, mortal history is but the record of dreams, not of man’s real existence,”

  4. I certainly can use this today Evan having felt at the mercy of shoddy workmen. Lots of good nuggets here for every part of material life …. another “keeper” and, like Barbara, the last line is what I will carry mentally. Also, 3 great articles from other contributors to take me deeper. Hugs to all.

  5. Good morning, everybody! Thank you, Evan, for remind us that we are channels of the Truth, nothing more. And thank you, Martine, for the article “The power of pure thought”, very helpful for me, in these days that we are seeing what is ‘happening’ in Afghanistan. Evil is nothing because Good is everything!

  6. Well, I have certainly been doing this. I can shoot out examples of past conversations to justify my current anger, disappointment, and show the other guy their faults in a heart beat.

    It is time to declutter.

I love decluttering my house but sometimes it is hard to let go of stuff. These old hurts are hard to let go of. Maybe as Marie Kondo says thank them (acknowledge them) for their past usefulness in lessons learned take the wisdom gained and then let them pass away.

    Hmm this will take work

    1. Casey I am also a follower of Marie Kondo’s method of decluttering the home. She says that when the decluttering is complete and we are left surrounded only by the things we love, the things that “spark joy,” it can be radically life changing. If that is so, imagine how much more life changing it will be if, as Evan advises we, “clean mental house and let only a pure consciousness of Truth and Love dominate.”

Evan I also appreciated, “It’s not natural or normal to be conscious of evil and harbor it like it belongs to you.” Reminds me of the Bible quote that says, “Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil and cannot see wickedness.” Thank you everyone for wonderful sharing today!

  7. “What happened materially yesterday does not determine what happens spiritually today.”

Thank you so much Evan, this while article has been so helpful today.

Thank you also, to all the SV’ers for their marvellous and insightful responses.

    Beannachd

  8. Thank you Evan and everyone. This is one of the most important things I have ever read. It fits perfectly (of course) with a conversation I had just yesterday with a young woman who is desperately trying to overcome grief.

  9. Oh my gosh, Evan, once again your post clears up the very problem I was “suffering” with all morning: returning to my humanly historic past, pondering WHy I had done such stupid things, how it led to such a change, and was I really that unconscious?!? What a bunch of NOTHINGNESS! I’ve learned – once again today- that when I do turn (return/repent) to the Truth we’re taught in Revelatory Christian Science, all I can KNOW is ftom the Mind/memory of God, my mind. A thousand thanks to you & my dear SpiritViewers

  10. Thank You for your words! I see myself doing the things you speak of. I need to clear my mind, the time has come!

  11. Thank you Evan and all for your sharing!

Here’s another good article that’s been quite helpful to me ~~

Mrs. Eddy’s wonderful statement, “the human history needs to be revised and the material record expunged” is actually in Retrospection and Introspection on p.22.

So grateful for our ability to do this mental house-cleaning and be free to live and love as children of God!

  12. Thank you Evan and all commenters. I printed out all articles. What a plethora of reading on this subject. I like what the author of “From the Ashes” says…”No situation is ever too hopelessly complicated, no discord too entrenched, no ill too far advanced, no break too irreparable, to yield to the restorative power of Truth” and goes on to say “Discord of every sort is a dream, and whatever goes on in a dream never really occurs.” Love to all

  13. Thank you for this reminder, Evan, and thank you for all the inspiring comments.

It has just come to me that a long time ago I was upset about something that had
happened – I can’t remember what it was now, but I think it involved another person.
I was still upset as I was relating it to another Christian Scientists. She just looked at me
and said: ” But – is it happening now?” She had to say it several times before the penny
dropped, and the the whole episode dropped out of my thoughts.

  14. I believe it’s important not to concentrate on what the mortal self is thinking since in reality there is no separate mortal self. It is so important to focus on YIELDING to our oneness with God which is true right now!

  15. Thank you so much Evan for this very helpful post. So much to ponder here, and I will be saving it.Thanks also for each fresh idea you send out every day, I always look forward to what is here each morning. Thanks also to everyone that includes links to articles that extend these ideas further. A wealth of inspiration and support. ❤

  16. Wow…excellent topic and comments. Thanks Evan. Martine, William, Angie, and Carolyne, thank you for the amazing and thought-provoking articles. Much appreciation to all!

  17. Many of my prayers are answered here today. Applicable articles, reflections from genuine Christian Scientists. Thank you Evan and everyone for bringing light to the subject. Balancing the books by tossing out the negative burden and realizing our ability to get rid of unproductive thinking.
Only positive and worthwhile thoughts can bring gladness.
