Spiritual contentment is riches

“…true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it. So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content.”

~ I Timothy, 6:6-8, NLT

The most important gain is always spiritual.

Material things come and go. They have no lasting impact on our long-run happiness, health and life. Any contentment associated with them is temporal and fleeting.

To set yourself up for the “good life,” seek the riches that matter—the spiritual riches of gratitude, truth, love and spiritual contentment. When you have these, you’ll have what you need to live rich in health and happiness.

Spiritual contentment is riches.

Discontentment is poverty.

  1. Listened to a discussion on tv about GDP, and happiness. It got me thinking about the real basis of supply and real satisfaction. There was some questioning of whether or not the tool for measuring growth, GDP, could measure well-being. Hmmm. My Christian Science lens came into play. “Give us this day our daily bread.” The keys to the kingdom are within reach of all. Thank you God, for your “good life”.

  2. A lovely start to the morning, thanks Evan. Spiritual mindedness is “the thing” to work on. In truth that is all any of us really is – an individual spiritual consciousness!

  3. Hymn #249 verse#2: Our gratitude is riches,
Complaint is poverty,… only spiritual good is everlasting. Many thanks to all on “our journey.”

  4. Love what you have said here Evan (and I love the picture)! There is so much to be grateful for – all life has been given riches beyond measure. It is fun to uncover and see more and more of it! 🙂

  5. Wonderful photo. I had one manager, a CSt, who told me that sometimes after work she needed
“cat time”. She would put her cat in her lap and stroke it while talking to her kind and wise roommate. Gratitude often the key to many spiritual riches. Thanks.

  6. All we take with us is our integrity and our character – our spiritual character!
    Our oneness with LOVE.
Sending this message to Washington, D.C. in thought,

  7. Perf. vii – 16
“Contentment with the past and the cold conventionality of materialism are crumbling away.”
Some of the very first words in S & H by our leader.

Words that worked on error for me are found in Miscellaneous Writings.
Page 203: Chapter VII, Pond and Purpose. Never been so moved and elevated by these words of gratitude. Mrs. Eddy put the pond which was a gift to her from her students, into metaphysical substance. Repaying her students with the key to Baptism, Repentance, and Spiritual awakening.
I fell completely absorbed and at home finally with this verse. Read it and get ready to be humble, blessed, elevated and healed. Bookmark it and it’ll be all for now. All along with the Sermon on the Mount.
Thank you for your discussion bringing to light our spiritual belongings.
Spirit View is precious. A type of communication allowing expression and a… well Spirit View!

  8. Thank you Evan, for letting me be aware, that I am very content and happy with the richness of spiritual qualities God gave me to express Him joyfully to His glory.
Diane, that’s very correct what you wrote,
Thanks all for your inspired comments 🙂
