Stand with God

It takes nothing to join the crowd. It takes everything to stand alone.

~Hans F. Hansen

Have courage to stand with what’s right, even when the crowd thinks differently. You might feel alone for a while, but standing with truth is always the safest place to be and the best company to keep.

  1. Yes I have experienced this blessing of standing alone with what’s right when many of my colleagues thought differently.
There was a huge monetary gain attached to our company policy, for employees who were retiring. It was for those who had to return to their home town after retirement from our office in Bombay, India. Many of my colleagues insisted I avail of this benefit given by the company since I had a small house away from Bombay. Yes I had taken this house from a loan, but my permanent home where I reside is in Bombay from where I used to travel to my office in Bombay. So it was not at all ethical to claim a facility I was not entitled to claim, though many were claiming. Being a student of Christian Science, I would never give up my honesty and sincerity for material gains. I could never ever displease my father mother God for anything in the world.
Yes I took a stand for the right, though I was alone. I got some funny names too for not flowing with the tide, “foolish”, “stupid”. But I didn’t bother, as long as I was on the side of Truth, God.
God blesses us daily with infinite good for which we need to be grateful. Everything good comes from God. And yes I did gain a lot of good by siding with God, though I was standing alone. One with God is a majority.

    1. Thanks for sharing that story Nergish. By standing on your highest sense of spiritual right, I trust that you were and are blessed, financially and in other ways, by your true source of all your supply of good, God.

  2. Well done Nergish!
All good is from God and is pure, harmonious and peaceable. It is not attached or accompanied by elements of deceit or dishonesty.

  3. Thank you very much Nergish for your wonderful comment! That is really walking solily with God what you do, and it’s very helpful for me. Wow, it’s interesting to know now that you live in Bombay, a large, lively City with many citizens.
Yes, thank you Evan, standing with truth and love is always the safest and loveliest and healthiest place to be!

  4. To thine own self be true. (William Shakespeare). Being true to our spiritual self will bless us. X

  5. God never lets us side with evil to obtain good. Lovely example sent in by Nergish. God cares for, loves and reveals HIS good for us, never leaving us where we were, always elevating us to where we need to be. Many twists and turns in my life were based on pure faith of following God’s leading. Working 4 jobs for a time, to owning my own business, to meeting my husband (the classmate from high school), whom I married, 20 years after we graduated, and so on to prove, God comforts us, provides for us, and leads the way. . . ALL the way. Thank you Evan for your lesson today in proving God’s goodness with nothing left out.

  6. Shows that standing up for Truth and what’s right is always the best way! Always enjoy everyone’s comments to Evan’s starter of the day! Wonderful group here lead by such an inspired leader! Why is the “donate” option button so hard to find? Love to support this to help keep it going!

    1. Hi DO. Click on the About tab up at the top and scroll to the bottom of that page to find the Donate button. A good reminder for us all.

  7. Thanks Evan for continuing on the idea of standing. Yesterday on SV we read, “If you fell down yesterday, Stand up today.” Now we are advised to Stand with God. It is a form of claiming our dominion over error. It brings to thought the saying “Start with God, Stand with God, Stay with God, Stick with God and finish with God” (not sure where this is from).

    Love to everyone.

    1. Thank you Rose; also if your last sentence would be from you, it is utmost logical and the only way to live, as God is our Life!

    2. Hi Rose. Judith Hardy Olson wrote a great article for the Sentinel called “Start Stick, Stay and Stand with God”. I can’t post the link sorry. Linda X

      1. Hi dear Rose, I just opened your link to Judith Hatdy Olson, and I could listen to her whole article; she herself read it. And it’s worth listening. Judith gives wonderfully clear and simple ideas, which are very helpful! Thanks a lot Rose for the link!♡

  8. Sure have been there, done that – many times throughout life. Some thoughts:

“Being honest may not get you a lot of friends, but it’ll always get you the right ones”
    – John Lennon

“It’s better to walk alone than with a crowd going in the wrong direction”.
    – Diane Grant

“A lie doesn’t become truth, wrong doesn’t become right and evil doesn’t
become good, just because it’s acceptable by a majority”
    – Rick Warren

“The one who follows the crowd will usually go no further than the crowd.
Those who walk alone are likely to find themselves in places no one has
    ever been before”.
    – Albert Einstein

  9. God said: Listen to Judith’s article!

    So, of course I did!

    Perfect Answer to my prayer!

    Thank You!

  10. I can’t read or listen to the article by Judith Olson. The article starts out ok, but then grey’s out. The audio starts out fine, but then comes a message to subscribe if you want the rest. I find this very unfriendly. Just don’t show the article. Just don’t have an audio. Don’t dangle a tidbit in front of someone and then snatch it away. Halfway is unkind. Just be honest at the start.

    1. Dear Kay. If you Google Start stay stick and stand as you would with any other search then the article will come up in its entirety. I ended up subscribing to JSH because I couldn’t read or listen to any articles and it was frustrating. However if you try googling the title then it should come up. I just tried it and it did. Love Linda.
