Strive for excellence

Excellence is the gradual result of always striving to do better.
~ Pat Riley
Wouldn’t it be nice if everything we did was excellent and perfect the first time?
Well, in the everyday course of life, it doesn’t usually work that way. Consistent excellence comes from hard work, never giving up, staunch faith in one’s ideals, and steadfast determination to get it right no matter what obstacles need to be overcome.
In an age where pursuit of instant self-gratification is an ideal of many, the accomplishment of excellence can feel elusive. The ego, unwilling to put in the sacrifices necessary to demonstrate high quality work, gives up too soon, or fails to try.
But those who discern the worth and value of worthy achievements will not give up. They will not retreat to sub-standards of thinking and living. They will work to improve step by step until they reach the worthy destination – perfection! And with God’s help, will not let temporal objections and discouragements stop progress.
This course of action is the route to heaven—BTW. Jesus Christ has gone before us…

  1. There should be comments galore on this subject of excellence. I never dreamed, as a child growing up, that I would want to better myself in the study of C/S. but that’s where I am right now. Persisting and never giving up. I shall succeed with God’s help, Evan.

  2. Thanks Evan. A good example following the Pat Riley quote of the pursuit of excellence is for one of his players with the Miami Heat basketball team. Lebron James just won MVP for the 4th time in the past 5 years, an amazing feat, and he says he is just beginning. Lebron works every day on each facet of his game and realizes that the sky is the limit.
