Where do you flee for safety when danger threatens?
People living in tornado zones may flee to an underground shelter for protection when storm sirens wail. Children distressed about disturbed relations with classmates may flee to their parents for comfort and guidance. People worried about symptoms of sickness may spend hours on the internet self-diagnosing and wondering what to do.
No matter what danger you face, there is one place you can always go for the best safety of all. Right to God! In a consciousness of God’s allness and goodness, fear dissolves, worries dissipate, threats fade away, calm prevails, harmony restores, healing happens.
The Bible reminds us, “My victory and honor come from God alone. He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me” (Psalm 62:7, NLT).
God is Love. To find refuge in God, is to take one’s thought into a consciousness of infinite Love. To know no other power than Love, no other reality, no other presence.
When thought is absorbed in Love, reflecting Love, and feeling Love, whatever enemy looks big and scary is suddenly not big and scary anymore. The Love of God overwhelms it and renders it harmless.
Near my home is a wildlife sanctuary for birds. Flocks of geese that migrate through our area know they are safe there from hunters. They land there by the thousands, feeding and resting on their journeys, confident of not being shot. And there is no hunter there to shoot them, because hunters are not allowed!
We can do the same with finding refuge with God. When we “land” in a consciousness of Truth and Love, of knowing God’s omnipotence and omnipresence,” we are dwelling in a place of safety. No disease can abide there, no pain lingers, no fear is found. Harmony, order, peace and health prevail. Safety is ours to enjoy.
Find refuge in God’s reality. It’s the safest place to be.

What stood out to me in your message … ” take one’s thought into a

no other reality, no other presence.” That is truly a perfect sanctuary,
where we are safe from anything that is unlike God/Love. Nothing
material can enter that would try to deter our spiritual being of perfection.
I, too, have a lovely area where wildlife – geese, blackbirds, deer, congregate
and know they are protected. A doe has a fawn nearby every year and
knows that she is not in harm, also. God’s beautiful world is lovely.

I’ve been very concerned lately about the “hazardous zone” air quality in my area, not leaving my home to protect myself, but also about having to let my dogs out into this 250+ AQI to “do their business” several times a day. This thought came to me, and at first I thought it was a stupid thought, a false message due to its simplicity: “The air of God is my friend.” Reading your message just now underscores it beautifully. Thank you! I want to protect my precious dogs (along with myself), and I can know that God is the Inspiration, the air that they, I, we breathe when we are allowing God to be our Protector.

Thank you Evan. Today I was thinking about how quick I was able to be healed when I was a child. What trust in God I had! It made me wonder if the more I’ve learned about Christian Science, the more I’ve inadvertently started thinking MY prayers or MY knowledge is what heals. And the result of that arrogance is no healing. LOL That realization has been a wake up call for me to be more humble and instead of putting my trust in my knowledge of CS, to just embrace a childlike attitude of knowing that God loves me and a humble spirit of acknowledgement of God’s power and presence and nature that destroys anything unlike God. And then just let whatever problem I’m facing go…stop thinking about it…and instead just stay in that spirit of God’s love.
Sometimes when people share articles, because I have a subscription to JSHOnline, I look at the other articles that were in the same issue of the Sentinel or Journal as the article shared. After reading the article J shared (thanks J!) I noticed the next article in that Sentinel was applicable to Evan’s message today, so I thought I’d share a link. This article ties in to what I was thinking about today (as explained in the paragraph above).

From this writing, I recall a particularly turbulent time in my life where a fair amount of uncertainty existed. One early morning, I was wide awake entertaining all sorts of “what if” thoughts. While I was silencing the human sense of things, Max, one of my English Cream Goldens jumped up onto the bed, and laid down in the angle of my legs, and just fell asleep. The immediate angle message was, “There is safety in love”….demonstrated by Max falling asleep on my bed, and in turn knowing my safety in Love. I recall falling asleep almost immediatley. I have often referred to this message during any form of mental turbulence.

Thanks to Evan and all. The ideas and articles shared helped to calm my thoughts about our current political situation and reminded me and showed me how to go to Mind for the truth of the situation.
Thank you all for spiritual food amidst exterior disturbance today of worker noise outside my otherwise quiet unit on a hot summer’s day. The work is needed of course. But I can lean on God’s good graces for the quietude of Spirit’s comfort and presence always with us, wherever and whenever. God fills all space when the senses are silent. That is enough! Love fills our environment and surroundings!
