  1. Amen to that Evan. This year my neighbours and I have decided not to send each other Christmas cards but instead to send donations to charities of our choice. It was wonderful how we all had the same thought. I wish you and your family a happy and peaceful Christmas and am grateful for the help and blessings I have had from your blogs and vlogs throughout the year and also from my extended family of SpiritViewers! Merry Christmas to all. xx

    1. Angie Thanks for your gift of this lovely article that includes the quote from Mark 4:39.
One day when I was a very little boy my mom asked why I sat so still in church andI responded: cus of what it says on the wall “Please be still” mistaking the word “peace” for “still.
Now that I know what it really says I can still hear God saying to me “Please be still” and trust me.
Trust Me to be in charge.
Trust me to care for you.
Trust Me to never leave you alone.
Trust Me to walk through the troubled waters with you.
A greater gift I could not have.
      Trust Me .

      1. Your story is precious, John!
Thank you, Angie, for your almost daily connections to the lovely supplemental articles which always enhance Evan’s subject.
        Peace to all
        and Thanks to all
        Love

    2. Thank you for posting this lovely article Angie. This sentence resonated with me…”Centuries may pass, nations rise and fall, changes sweep over the world, but the peace of Love still broods over us with its holy presence.” I shall keep this in my thought all day.

    3. Thank you Angie for the reference to this beautiful article.
And thank you Evan, for your elegantly simple declaration to remain in peace.

  2. THE GIFT OF LOVE AND PEACE.

What present did Jesus give his friends?
A gift of Love that never ends.
    Not confined to Christmas Day,
For, Lo, I’m with you, all the way.

God will supply your needs not wishes, –
Look what was done with the loaves and fishes:
Five thousand people and more were fed.
The gift of Love gave them their bread.

Many came who were blind and lame:
The response of the Lord was just the same.
“Rise up, be free! Sin no more!
Love one another, peace your door!”

What present should we give our friends?
Love’s gift of PEACE that never ends.
    Not confined to Christmas Day
But for all time, in every way.

Thank you Evan, for your continuing gifts of love and peace.

  3. Thank you Evan! “ This Christmas song and poem came to mind “Love came down at Christmas Love
all love , Love Divine “
This is Christina Rossetti ‘s entire poem:
    Love came down at Christmas,
    Love all lovely, Love Divine,
    Love was born at Christmas,
Star and Angels gave the sign.
    Worship we the Godhead,
    Love Incarnate, Love Divine,
    Worship we our Jesus,
    But wherewith for sacred sign?
    Love shall be our token,
Love be yours and love be mine,
Love to God and all men,
Love for plea and gift and sign

    1. Sheree, I adore Christina Rossetti and this made me think of her beloved poem:

What can I give Him, poor as I am?
      If I were a shepherd, I would bring a lamb;
      If I were a Wise Man, I would do my part;
Yet what can I give Him: give my heart.

  4. Thank you Evan for your peaceful Christmas message, and thank you everyone for your lovely additions – especially the beautiful article from Angie, the lovely poem from Ken – I always find them so inspiring – and for Christina Rossetti’s poem from Sheree. They are really uplifting my thoughts to
the true gift of the Christ to every one of us and to being truly grateful for how the Christ heals and blesses everyone who embraces his messages of peace and love, which are with us for ever. The most useful gift imagineable which we can share freely.

  5. John and Ken, thank you for the inspiring and illuminating poems! John, although your words weren’t written as such, their beauty and cadence were so poetic—-so powerful to me.

  6. Thanks to Evan for this very important thought of Peace. And thanks to all who are sharing their inspiration on this topic. When I taught in an elementary school, I shared a program on peace that a teacher (Naomi Drew) had written entitled, “Learning the Skills of Peacemaking.” The children learned how to talk with their friends, family, etc., to bring solutions to their problems. Because of the importance of the basic principle of peace, the school included the idea in their mission statement.

M.K. Gandhi says (not sure if exact quote) that if we are to have peace in the world, we must start with children.
Thanks, again, to all for your contributions. Let’s sing the song of Peace and send it out into all the world.

  7. How wonderful that a short quote from Evan brings out so many poems, stories and articles from everyone here. So enjoyable…so thought provoking and all so full of Peace and Love ( and humour!) Thank you to everyone seems inadequate but I’m reading everything over and over!
    Isaiah 52.v7 says..
‘How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who proclaims peace, who brings glad tidings of good times. Who proclaims salvation, who says to Zion ‘ Your God reigns!’’
This is , I feel , what everyone of the SV family does and I am so grateful to experience all the Love and Peace here. Evan, you inspire us all to seek the Truth. Grateful! Shalom❣️

  8. Thank you so much, Evan, Angie and all commenters. What a beautiful sign of peace. Several yrs ago I had some bumper stickers made saying “Prepare for Peace”. The quote came from Janessa Gans Wilder of the Euphrates Institute and former professor at Principia. My car is parked in front of my apt.near the beach and many people walk, jog, bicycle, skateboard by it each day. Many people turn their heads regularly to read the sticker and hv told me it helps them center their day. Many have been given away to those expressing appreciation.
Also wanted to share about the wonderful new series “The Chosen” about the story of Jesus. It’s available online to stream for free in the US. They hope people will “pay it forward” so it can be shared world wide. Highly recommend!! Let’s help to “prepare the way of the Lord” which I know you all are doing!

  9. Thank you Evan for the reminder of the gift and blessing of Peace.

Peace is a spiritual quality, something we have inside, put there by God. It can’t be lost or diminished. Error would try to make our Peace seem vulnerable, but it is not. Stillness is a quality we have that is very similar to Peace.

Great messages from the Bible, “Peace, Be Still.” “Be still, and know that I am God.”

Peace to all in SV family!

  10. Wonderful life enhancing comments today (as usual). I am so grateful for Evan and this Spiritview family. Thank you all.
Merry Chrismas and Happy New Year!!!!
Let us remain in the Peace of Divine Love throughout this Christmas season. Namaste!

  11. Thank you Evan and everyone for your messages today!

Last week Sue asked about how we could add an image next to our name (or nickname). Evan responded with a brief description of how to do it, but I went through the process myself and documented step-by-step instructions as shown below in case these are helpful. I associated a sunrise image with the email address I specify when making comments as you can see by the image next to my name.

    1) Click on the following link:

    https://en.gravatar.com

    2) Click on the big, blue “Create Your Own Gravatar” button.

    3) Enter the email address you enter when you post a comment to SpiritView and then enter some username and password you want to use for your Gravatar (i.e. WordPress) account.

    4) An email will be sent to the email address you entered in step 3. Click on the blue “Activate Account” button in that email.

    5) Clicking on the button in step 4 will launch a browser and take you to the wordpress.com site where you can log in using the username and password you specified in step 3.

    6) After logging in, there will be an icon at the top of the page with the silhouette of the head of a person or, if you are using a laptop, you may see a blue icon next to your email address at the top of the web page. Click on that and then click on “Click to change photo” or “Add an image”. Browse to the image on your phone or laptop you want to upload and that will be the image you see when you post a comment to SpiritView. The image will also appear for comments you have posted in the past.

  12. A merry Christmas to you all. Peace reigns,
thank you for all your comments. thank you
Evan for the thoughtfulness and work you put into this blog.
It is more than a blog but a lifeline, with a knot in it so I can hang on.
