Wise counsel to stay healthy

December 4, 2020 | 24 comments

“You embrace your body in your thought, and you should delineate upon it thoughts of health, not of sickness. You should banish all thoughts of disease and sin and of other beliefs included in matter.”

~ Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 208

With many fears and false beliefs circulating in the public consciousness about health concerns these days, it’s critical that we banish them from consciousness to keep them out of our experience.

As Eddy instructs, delineate thoughts of health on your body.

Health is not a state of matter in flux. Health is a spiritual state that is permanently embedded in our being as the offspring of Spirit, and it is never lost. It is not susceptible or vulnerable to a virus. It is immune to them.

Love yourself today by accepting only health as your reality. Know that there isn’t anything fickle, uncertain, or iffy about your health. It’s as fixed as your name. You never lose it! Banish any suggestions to the contrary and stay healthy.

  1. I love the picture! The Father with a look of pride on his face for the daughter who’s face is showing such love for the shoulders supporting her. Surely this is a mirror picture of ourselves and our God who gives us all good. Today is a good day for me to concentrate on your message Evan. To dismiss the erroneous mortal picture of self and embrace my true healthy Spiritual being. Significantly , I will include everyone in my prayers just as God doesn’t favour one but blesses all.❣️

    1. What a beautiful and loving response to an amazing article. Thank you so much Barbara for the heartfelt message. And thank you Evan for the beautiful statements of Truth.

  2. Thank you Evan for reminding us of this Truth. Our health is a guaranteed part of our spiritual being. “In Him we live and move and have our being.” I can never put into words how grateful I am for Christian Science and the comfort and freedom it gives each of us in our daily lives.

  3. Good morning and thanks for the continuing support in keeping our thought free from error.
Thanks for the thought that we have God’s shoulders to support ourselves in the sunlight of spirit. The light that shines in the darkness of mortal belief.
This morning awaking with a sense of fear, I anticipated the morning issue of Spirit View, knowing it would boost my thought out of any fearful, anxious influence.
II Timothy 1:7 “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear: but of power and love, and of a sound mind.” This verse is often included as the one that leads in testimonies of healing, recorded in Sentinel and Journal articles. And very often in our daily lesson sermon found in the C. S. Quartley.
Thank you Evan and all for this mornings Spiritual View.

  4. Grateful for this Evan. I looked up the word ‘flux’ in the dictionary and it said ‘continuous change’. In a world which seems continuously changing at the moment, it’s good to know that we are not subject to turmoil and that our health is ‘permanently embedded in our being as the offspring of Spirit’ as you put it so beautifully. SV is one of the rocks to which I turn each day for strength and support, which I get not only from your blogs and vlogs, but also from all the helpful comments from my fellow SpiritViewers. Thank you all!

In a world that seems full of continous change and turmoil at the moment, it’s good to know that we and our health are ‘permanently embedded in our being as the offspring of Spirit’ as you so beautifully put it. Thank you and thanks also to all my fellow SpiritViewers for the help I get from their lovely comments.

  6. Thank you Evan, for sharing spirit view with us daily. It is one of the most valuable messages I get in my inbox Monday-Friday! I am truly grateful. As well as to the congregation that gathers here- I learn a lot and revive healing messages-from all of your ideas—hymns, citations, verses and articles that are shared. Evan-You mentioned that our names- are the one thing that stays with us- I am so grateful that 47 years ago- my parents decided to name me Christi. They were Christian- although not Christian Scientists. The definition of the name given to me: “imitation of Christ: the attempt to live and act as Christ lived and acted.” As a Christian Scientist- I guess I would add- think and understand as Christ lived. And I would know that the Christ lives- present tense as the everpresent Comforter- and as the second coming- as Christian Science-the Truth that sets us free. Thank you and I am off to live up to my name- and work/think and pray to mimic Christ Jesus.

  7. I woke up this morning and the thought came to me that we are so blessed to have a Christian Science practitioner speak to us every morning. Evan your blogs have helped me for so many years. When at work and facing a challenge I would have your blog printed out and highlighted in parts I needed for the day. I could read these lines if I needed a change of thought and think on God’s spiritual guidance. Your inspiration and spiritual truths helped me through many trying times and I am eternally grateful for your gift of love and sharing you give to the world.

  8. I love thinking about my health being as fixed as my name. So simple and no question. “I’m Trista! I’m healthy!” Last night I started feeling the effects of something that I have been struggling with for years. But this time was different. I felt calm, peaceful, and unafraid. I reasoned that this thing has never really been mine. All it has ever been is an illusion. The word illusion stood out to me in something I listened to a couple days ago and last night it was crystal clear that yes, I have been duped by beliefs of time (struggling with it all these years), and the lie that this thing belongs to me. I realized that I can just let go of it, right now.

God loves us. God doesn’t give us suffering. God is the only cause and creator and our father-mother only created Good! If it isn’t Good from God, then God doesn’t know about it. If God doesn’t know about it, it isn’t known.

Grateful to be on this journey with God.

  9. David mentioned the weekly Lesson sermon with the Bible & Science and Health. I came across this website several months ago: https://www.cedarscamps.org/metaphysical/. It includes commentary each week on the lesson from Christian Science practitioners. You may have already heard of the site, but if not, it offers a lot of insight and understanding. Just wanted to share.

  10. John M. Tutt, CSB, said in an article in the March, 1925 Journal titled “Wiser Than Serpents:” “We should be wise to detect, attack, and destroy the serpent with its supposititious virus..” See the entire quote there, or in a pamphlet with the same title, and in the first Anthology of Articles from CSPS.

  11. Powerful comments today, thank you one and all! Thanks PCL for the reference to commentary on the Bible Lesson, I will check that out.

I loved being reminded by Evan that, “Health is a spiritual state that is firmly imbedded in our being as the offspring of Spirit, and it is never lost.” We can know this for ourselves and for everyone. We can all experience this spiritual reality, right now!

I am working lately to include a wider and wider circle in my knowing of the truth. It’s gratifying to recognize that I can stand strong for God, absolutely refusing to believe that any one of His children is subject to fear, hatred, discouragement or ups and downs of Health. It’s simply not how He made us. Case closed.

  12. Am I awfully grateful for your SpiritView blog, dear Evan! It is a healing treat!

Just want to say something to the question I shortly read about, namely “what would Mrs Eddy do today and would she wear a mask.
No, I think she would immediately heal, as that was her great mission already from childhood on. And actually you cannot compare today with Mrs. Eddy’s times.
Also Christ Jesus healed immediately such desease as the lepers; he even touched them when he healed them.
I remember the following passage from SH by MBE so in that sense: Jesus saw the perfect man where mortals saw the sick and sinning man. And this correct view (Truth) healed man.” And so did Mrs. Eddy as well.

Thank you all for your interesting and lively and loving comments!
I love your SpiritView blog very much, dear Evan! It leads us always lovingly to the healing Truththoughts – so uplifting and comforting. And I ponder the Truth you give us daily. Again, thanks a lot, Evan!

  13. I wanted to share a short prayer that affirms our perfect health:

    God is my perfect health — I can’t be sick;
God is my eternal strength — unfailing, quick

    Amen
