    1. Thanks Lorna. I found the below statement containing that quote from S&H in a 1926 article titled ‘Sorrow Not the Master of Joy’ by Albert Gilmore.
https://sentinel.christianscience.com/issues/1926/9/29-1/sorrow-not-the-master-of-joy (this link does not open the article fully for everyone, perhaps someone can provide the unrestricted version)

“In “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures” (p. 304) Mrs. Eddy sets forth the inability of sorrow to destroy the charm and joy of life, in these words: “This is the doctrine of Christian Science: that divine Love cannot be deprived of its manifestation, or object; that joy cannot be turned into sorrow, for sorrow is not the master of joy; that good can never produce evil; that matter can never produce mind nor life result in death.”

  1. Yes Evan sir , the highest joy is when we are spiritually enlightened and reflecting only Godlike qualities in our character, then automatically no place for other things ( like worries, complaints, stress whether job/ study related, hatred, comparisons, hurt feelings, resentment, n many more materialistic things) and we are fully contended n no expectations in life, seeing everything n everyone perfect n God’s hand in everything . Automatically only joyfulness n peace.

    1. Thank you so much dear Evan and Monika and all. So much in seeming need of
spiritual inspiration this morning. Your list, Monika, could easily have been
expanded on this morning, with so many fears and worries of the direction the
world seems to be going, especially in this state and appreciate so much this
      inspiration today.
I used to love making snow angels as a child, so the delightful photo brings a
warm remembrance of such care-free where one was free to express
themselves in such simple innocence and exuberance of pure joy without
holding back in any way. Spiritual inspiration is such a blessing.

    2. Thank you Monika,
“Reflecting only Godlike qualities in our character then
AUTOMATICALLY NO PLACE FOR OTHER things, “

  3. Thank God for SpiritView! Perhaps it’s a bit simplistic but a thought came to us the other day: we can make a conscious choice whether we follow the garden path or take the rocky road. The garden path is following God all the way, the rocky road is relying on and listening to mortal mind.

  4. This week’s Lesson (Bible #9) contains this passage, “…the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.” (Acts 13:52) Pretty good description of spiritual inspiration. As we acknowledge that we live in the kingdom, safe and blessed and whole and full, we see with gratitude our true being. There is no location to All, no geography to “omnipresent,” no limits to Love. “Life is, always has been, and ever will be independent of matter; for Life is God, and man is the idea of God, not formed materially but spiritually…” (SH p. 200) I remember a pamphlet for young people with the title “Filled Up Full.” And Psalm 16 ends with “in thy presence is fullness of joy.” We are not separated from joy; we contain it, express it, and are comprised of it: it is our center, our being. Page 306: “Undisturbed amid the jarring testimony of the material senses, Science, still enthroned, is unfolding to mortals the immutable, harmonious, divine Principle, — is unfolding Life and the universe, ever present and eternal.” Music, for example, may inspire us with joy, (it does for me), but as Evan describes, it is not physical stimulation but the spiritual inspiration it evokes. We are filled up full.

  5. Thank you Evan and all SpiritView readers and writers for the daily inspiration! Gracias Evan y a todos los que leen y escriben aquí inspiración diaria.. Merci beaucoup a tous!

  6. The Divine Intelligence emanates radiant light and inspiration, and this divine essence is our natural state of Mind. Spiritual, peaceful, sublime, and joyful.

Thank you Evan and all for the divine inspiration you reflect, and impart to a saddened world.

“This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118: 24

    1. Thank you very much “J” for that wonderful article full of God’s love to us. This article gives us a sense of everlasting spiritual Joy, coming from God!♡

  7. So true. Some of the most joyous and inspiring times I’ve had in my life was walking out of a Christian Science church on a Wednesday or Sunday after the service and feeling like I was 3 feet off the ground, walking on air.

  8. As I was approaching the grocery store today, there was a gentleman sitting on the
curb right near the door who looked as if he may have been homeless. I smiled at him
and as an afterthought asked if he was wanting a donation. He said Thank you so much
for asking but he was waiting for a ride. We got into a chat where he said most everyone
snubs him and looks the other way, so he was so appreciative to have someone smile and
actually care about his well being. He was genuine in saying he could tell I had a “kind heart”,
which we don’t always know how our kindness can be appreciated.
When checking out, the cashier asked me what we had been talking about, because apparently
he seemed to be creating a stir amongst the staff there and had asked them for a ride to a
    more distant town.
Thankfully when I went out, he seemed more contented, thankfully didn’t ask me for a ride,
but just again very sincerely thanked me for showing kindness to him and said in a cold world
where it seems so many do not care about others, it was so refreshing to see someone who
has a “good heart” and to never change. It was a touching few moments and almost “Jesus”-like
in a way… (that is, I could picture Jesus saying those same words he was speaking. It was quite
amazing). I have found that sometimes those with so little often have a deeper understanding
of what is really important in life. Before we were chatting the second time, I had noticed a
state trooper had gone in to the store and I prayed that he had helped arrange for this gentleman
to find a ride. It was an experience that was sort of spiritual in a way and I was grateful for it.

  9. Thank you very much, Carol for your christly and very loving experience at the grocery store with that man.
Shortly I was helped lovingly by a young man, and he asked then kindly if he can help me also with something else, whereby I said joyfully “no, thank you”. I am always grateful for peoples kindness, even if they smile kindly at me!

Thank you, Evan for turning the human understanding of Joy into the spiritual understanding of real and permanent Joy coming solely from God, divine Love!♡

  10. Appreciate your loving response, Uta, as always. Of course, our guardian angel/God’s Love
is always with us and guides us with wisdom. The cashier had mentioned to me, and of
course I know, that we can not be too careful these days with sometimes evil in sheep’s
clothing pretending to be what it is not. Had this gentleman asked for a ride, I would
not have gone along with that idea and we can be “divine” Loving and helpful, while
still being humanly cautious and wise. Trust is something I’ve learned over the years
to be very aware of and especially in today’s world, one can not be humanly naive.
We must be sure of things and tune in to the One Mind in all our ways. Sometimes
we seem to get mixed responses and it is not always easy to know exactly which way
to turn, but with divine guidance, we are helped along our journey of wanting to
express Love more… But we are always enveloped in God’s protective care. Always.

  11. Thank you dear Carol for your comment. I agree with what you express up here. And I love your inspired comments, as well!
Meanwhile it’s bedtime here – till tomorrow.
