The word "Can’t"

February 6, 2012 | 4 comments

A friend was explaining to me that when he was a kid, whenever he went to his mom with a complaint of, “I can’t do my homework,” or “I can’t figure out my problem,” or “I can’t do this,” or “I can’t do that,” his mom would reply, “Can’t is a word I don’t understand. With God’s help, you can do anything.” The boy was encouraged to go to his Source and find the solution to his trouble. And he would. He learned to demonstrate a strong God-sufficiency over the years and eventually became a successful businessman.
With God, there is no such thing as “can’t.” God can do anything, and does do everything necessary to maintain health, harmony and order throughout the universe.
A material sense of God sees limits, boundaries, disease and trouble. It doubts God’s omnipotence and tries to solve problems through human and material ways and means. And in its error, finds unending reasons to conclude “I can’t do this.”
Spiritual sense understands God aright and sees infinite blessing, unending supply, answers, solutions, opportunities, health, life and love.
Side with God today, drop any argument of “I can’t,” and replace it with “God can.” A route to freedom will spring up before you.

  1. When I was small and came to my mom with “I can’t….”; she’d always say, “Can’t never could do anything because he didn’t TRY.”
So I would go and keep trying until I completed the task. I wish she’d said “that with God all things are possible”, instead. It not only would have turned my thought to the right place -One Mind- but would have taken away that false sense of, ” Oh I can do anything MYSELF if I just work harder”. Took me much longer to learn that there’s just ONE Ego/God who is and does All. Thank you so much for sharing this, Evan.

  2. My grandchildren have tennis coaching, individually and in groups. At this club the motto is “I can”. This is printed on the backs of their t shirts, including the coaches t shirt.

  3. I always use in my classroom, “Mr. Can’t doesn’t live here only Mr. Can.” It works wonders although when God is added to the equation it absolutely works. Sher
