When making important decisions

October 1, 2021 | 18 comments

When making important decisions, be motivated by truth rather than fear. Seek the spiritual truth about the situation.

For instance, if considering a new job opportunity, and worried about whether you should take the job or not, remember that you express the all-knowing Mind of God that knows the best direction to go. Rather than fretting in fear, honor the presence of this Mind by waiting patiently on it for direction, and acting when the direction comes. Stay in a prayerful mode so that your thought is clear to hear the right idea.

If considering a real estate transaction, and not sure whether to proceed, waste no time in fear, and stay occupied with the truth that Mind knows the best way to proceed. Mind acts with wisdom, knowledge and understanding, and you live to express this truth in action.

If wondering about pursuing a relationship, don’t employ fear and agonize about unknowns. Turn to Truth, and let the Mind of Love will lead you forward, trusting that whatever you need to know will unfold when you need to know it. “There is nothing covered that will not be revealed” (Luke 12:2, NKJV), Jesus Christ reminded us.

Fear is not an informed state of mind. It’s foggy thinking, ignorance. The cure is to seek the spiritual truth about the situation, and act on truth, rather than get stultified by fear.

Master fear with truth.

Make important decisions based upon what is true between you and God, and the outcome will be good.

  1. Thank you Evan!
Love the ‘Fear … is foggy thinking. ‘.
Like the Bible Lesson – What hast thou in thine house (consciousness)?

  2. I loved, “Make important decisions based upon what is true between you and God, and the outcome will be good.” Just to focus on what is between me and God, shutting out all other “noise” is such a clear and comforting thought. We are capable of doing this. Beautiful day to all!

  3. These excerpts from Violet Ker Seymer in the 1935 January Journal in article titled: SIMPLICITY
align with Evan’s thoughtful admonitions today:
To most people earthly existence appears to be a complex, inconsistent puzzle, a more or less meaningless prelude to the unknown. In such a case, human thoughts are wayward, footsteps uncertain, and the goal seems dim or nil. This is because human experience is being regarded objectively, according to physical sense evidence, instead of subjectively, as a precious school for growth in the graces of Spirit, loving kindness, intelligent thinking, purposeful joy.
Humanity’s troubles come upon it mainly through its confused thinking. Christian Science teaches that the basis of thought censorship is the perfection of the one divine Mind reflected in man. We do well to ask ourselves whether we are in any respect being swayed by physical sense evidence; whether we are thinking obliquely, or in a straight line with divine Principle; whether we are slanting off into idle speculation as to our prospects; whether, in considering taking up this, that, or the other questionable pursuit, we should not be departing from our simple determination to abandon material motives and bring forth the fruits of Spirit. Christian Science turns its students from the habit of morbid retrospection or introspection to the spiritual faculty of achievement. The one who adopts spiritual growth as his unique aim in life allies himself to divine Principle and follows the course of spirituality. He moves simply, sublimely, through life, tasting heaven all the way.

    1. Dear Linda Jan, thanks a lot for the except ( I suppose) from the agile. However regrettably cannot open the whole article by Violet Ker Seymer . Can you or perhaps anybody else open the link fully please? Am always grateful for that!♡

        1. Thank you Beatrice for providing this link, it opens fully. Appreciate you taking the time to post it.

  4. Dear Evan,- the guidance you offer in this post hits home to me at a time when major changes in my life have come up for consideration. This morning’s visit with you encourages me to go forward with complete trust, listening for Mind’s wisdom and solutions of blessing. When there is a choice of several paths to take and there is uncertainty about which way to go, I love your confident stand that “whatever you need to know will unfold when you need to know it.” “There is nothing covered that will not be revealed.” Thank you for another “jump start” to an inspired, purposeful, God directed day.
And thank you Lindajane for excerpts from Violet Seymore’s wonderful 1935 article.

  5. This is perfect as I am on a committee to hire a new Executive Director for a non-prophet organization. We are meeting this weekend and interviewing next week.
The statements here and in the article are very helpful in getting lined up with the truth during the interviews. Honoring the presence of divine Mind, Listening for direction, not being fearful of making the wrong choice.
    Thanks Evan and all.

  9. F – False
    E – Evidence
    A – Appearing
    R – Real

This definition of “fear” always comes to mind when I hear it used!

  10. This is so good, thank you Evan. Many thanks to all commenters. Not long ago I experienced a job loss due to corporate down-sizing. I had a previous situation in my life several years before this, where I had no choice but to be patient, let God lead, and unfold His plan at just the right time. That experience gave me the confidence to let go of outlining and planning and trust God with my job search. After about a month of interviewing I was offered a newly created position that has met all my needs in more ways than I could have ever have humanly outlined. Some quotes from others:
-Desire is prayer; and no loss can occur from trusting God with our desires (S&H p.1). The key is trusting God with our desires. That means we can’t outline what the solution is going to look like. But as we trust God to make it be just right, the outcome will be better than we could ever plan for.
    – When we turn to God, we’re really looking for what He has already established. Prayer brings us into harmony with the divine plan. Prayer allows us to see what God has already established for us, and it has to be good. It’s getting ourselves out of the way to hear what God is saying.
    – As we turn out thoughts to God and trust Him for guidance instead of focusing on what we are seeing with our eyes, we are not bound by the limitations of material sense.

  11. One of my favorite passages “There is nothing covered that will not be revealed” (Luke 12:2, NKJV), So applicable to so many issues. I am in the midst trying to find the right firm to help with our estate planning. There doesn’t seem to be a clear choice. This blog is just what I needed! I have printed it out. Thank you so much Evan for these helpful, prayerful ideas. Truly grateful. (=
