You are a good seed

When explaining what life in the kingdom of heaven is like, Jesus Christ tells a parable of a farmer who plants good seed in his field.  Later, when the farmer is asleep, an enemy comes by and plants tares in the field, which spring up with the wheat.  But alas, he further explains, the good seed represent the children of God who live forever.  The tares represent “children of the wicked one” (Matthew 13:24-38), who are destined to be separated from the good seed.

When reading the story recently, I thought, “I am one of the good seeds!”

It can be tempting to think we’re one of the bad seeds at times if feeling down and depressed, hopeless or sick.  But this is never true.  The bad seeds are mortal beliefs about God’s children.  They are false beliefs about spiritual reality that are destined to be exposed and destroyed with the reality that God made only good seeds—good children.  God never created a bad seed, a bad child.

Which means, you are one of the good seeds!!  The feelings of hopelessness and despair are the bad seeds of false belief to be yanked out of consciousness and burned with spiritual truth.

So, be fair to yourself.  Think rightly about who you are.  You are one of the good seeds.  God thought you up, filled you with heavenly goodness, and gave you a Life of Spirit to live out God’s goodness and prove its reality.

You are pure goodness to the core of your being.

Identify with the good seed.  Rejoice in being one of the good seeds.  Reap the benefits of the good Life it has to offer.

You are a good seed!

  1. Thank you Evan!! Love your ideas on the tares and wheat parable. So helpful and comforting.

    1. Me too ! Refuse to allow those illegitimate takes try and strangle that goose seed . The tares have no root and no place in the Kingdom . Only US – the good , God created ideas of Love , showing forth the abundant harvest of joy , happiness and all the wonder and glory of His Kingdom
