Be willing to go where Mind leads you

A bend in the road is not the end of the road — unless you fail to make the turn.

~ Unknown

God is always leading you down a path of progress. Sometimes what we see ahead is not what we expect. But if we let divine Mind lead us forward, we’ll know the right moves to make for progress to keep happening. We’ll make the turns that need to be made when they need to be made.

We’ll stay on the road we’re supposed to stay on.

  1. Hymn 247 came to me as soon as I read this today.

O walk with God along the road
    Your strength He will renew;
    Wait on the everlasting God,
And He will walk with you.

Ye shall not to your daily task
    Without your God repair,
But on your work His blessing ask
    And prove His glory there.

    Ye shall not faint, ye shall not fail;
    In Spirit ye are strong;
Each task divine ye still shall hail,
And blend it with a song.

Thank you Evan for these daily blessings!

  2. Today Evan tells us to let divine Mind lead us forward. It requires humility and trust. Humility before God’s great power and knowingness and trust that He leads us rightly. “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5). Our “own understanding” is often that bully mortal mind trying to speak to us, and since it only sees materially it doesn’t know anything about us (the true us, God’s expression). It’s full of nonsense and lies. So instead we lean on God who knows all truth about us and loves us dearly.

From the beginning of S&H: “To those leaning on the sustaining Infinite, today is big with blessings.”

    1. Yes, Rose, humility and trust. I was recently humbled. I pray daily for dominion over lightning strikes so that I AM extinguishing lightning sparks in seconds BEFORE a wildfire with debilitating smoke harms trees, wildlife, and humanity. Working with this for months with my support group, my Vortex of Love . Just a few days ago, I learned that 1/2 of Canada is burning. Oh, NO!! These wildfires most likely caused by lightning sparks. It humbles me as this can be seen as failure; but I AM trusting in the Holy Spirit regardless of conditions. I know that it is easy for God to extinguish lightning sparks in SECONDS and I AM staying connected to Infinite Love. Conditions are not the driving force here. Vision is moving you and I forward. So grateful to Christ and our glorious Source!!

      1. Lisa, that makes me think of Moses turning round to see why a bush was burning, but the bush was not touched by the fire This was to draw Moses’ attention to the fact that nothing real that God had made could be consumed by material beliefs of destructive
elements in His Creation. God is always present everywhere, and His presence is right where the sparks and threats of wildfires seem to be. God is governing, protecting, caring for everyone and everything. There is nothing that can harm or destroy God’s spiritual creation the only real creation. God loves everyone and everything that He has made, and we can look for the sparks of spiritual inspiration to uplift our thoughts
to the divine Principle of the Universe. God’s law is in operation and we can
trust in Him, the Almighty God, divine Principle, to protect you all. Keep trusting
in the Holy Spirit. All is well.

      2. God’s ideas are eternal, and multiply in the infinite, infinitely calm, living, nourishing atmosphere of divine Love.
They cannot be and have never been, burned. Trees are beautiful symbols of Life. Water, moisture, symbolize purity and provision.

“The pent-up elements of mortal mind need no terrible detonation to free them. Envy, rivalry, hate need no temporary indulgence that they be destroyed through suffering; they should be stifled from lack of air and freedom.”
(Miscellaneous Writings 1883–1896, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 356:5)

Certainly the vacuum of nothingness, which those elements can be reduced to in prayer, has no air, and stifles mortal mind’s claims, and without one square inch of space in infinity, they have no freedom to move.

“Allness is the measure of the infinite, and nothing less can express God.” (SH. 336:23)

        God’s blessings come as showers
        Upon the thirsty earth;
And joy and hope, like flowers,
Spring in His path to birth.
        Before Him on the mountains
        Shall Peace, the herald, go;
From hill to vale the fountains
        Of righteousness shall flow.
        (Christian Science Hymnal, No. 458:2)

      3. Dear Lisa in Oregon
Don’t worry. Divine Mind is in control and governs all. “News” is known for exaggeration. Canada is a huge place and of the 10 provinces & 3 Territories only comparitively small northern portions of BC & Alberta are really in fire.
        All is “in hand”.

    2. Amen Rose, I drink these gentil words,
Thank you Evan for sharing to all, God must be in the neighborhood!☺️

  3. Thank you Evan and all contributors. This is real. We must listen to Truth’s direction to stay on the right path.. Hymn 69. Stanza 1
Give me O Lord, an understanding heart, That I may learn to know myself in thee, To spurn the wrong and choose the better path, And thus from sinful bondage be set free..

  4. Divine mind leading us forward. Always making those bends in the road never seeing it end but making progress.
Thank you, Evan for exactly what I need to progress in all things, even the most difficult ones!
    Becky

  5. A lovely analogy.

Just a few thoughts that came to me.

It makes me think of when I go on country walks,, and we have been walking for some while and enjoying the views and discoveries of wild flowers in the hedgerows. etc. we see yet another bend in the footpath before us, and I really so want to see what is round the next bend – I am sure there are more lovely things to discover. I can get lovely spiritual inspiration from
    that.

I can decide to go on a spiritual walk, admiring and loving all the goodness and beauty that God unfolds before us if we are looking for it. When it seems to come to a dead end I am not sure
what to do next to keep experiencing that lovely unfoldment, I can look
up to God, and pray to find that bend on the pathway which is sure to be there, and it will take me on and upward to even more lovely views of God’s wonderful infinitely beautiful .creation. There may be a few obstacles to overcome on the way – like a stream to cross, or brambles to
manage, or rough terrain. But as we master these and progress we are led to higher and more beautiful vistas.

Anyone for a spiritual walk of discovery?

  6. So many “spiritual walks of discovery” (thanks Maggie) to love
this morning! Early on in life I had read an inspiration from
Helen Steiner Rice that this wonderful blog and comments
    remind me of:

    “The Bend in the Road
Sometimes we come to life’s crossroads
And we view what we think is the end,
But God has a much wider vision
And he knows that its only a bend –
The road will go on and get smoother
And after we’ve stopped for a rest,
The path that lies hidden beyond us
Is often the path that is best,
So rest and relax and grow stronger,
Let go and let God share your load
And have faith in a brighter tomorrow –
You’ve just come to a bend in the road.”

I have always loved this and have come through many bends in the road
throughout my life and it is true. Also, what comes to mind, “Just when the
caterpillar thought it was the end of the world, it became a butterfly”.
Keeping an open mind, lets us fly to heavenly heights.

    1. Thank you for sharing this poem. Will print it out for sure.. What a inspiring blog this is. Thought provoking and instructive. showing us how we are to go. I love where the poem says “So rest and relax and grow stronger/ Let go and let God share your load/ and have faith in a brighter tomorrow- Youve just come to a bend in the road.”
Then if you realize that in reality even though you can’t see it, progress and answers are right here, right now so no worries.
God , divine Mind is always with us.
Thanks Evan and all commenters. 🙂

      1. Thank you for your kind words about the poem, Maggie, Jane and Lori. Altho
not CS, per se, the healing message I thought was very in tune with the topic.
We are all children of God, cherished in God’s perfect care. The pathway
may seem rugged, sometimes, but when we put Trust in God’s plan, even
when we can’t see around the next bend, His perfectness appears.
I, too, am so grateful for the online meetings, Uta, which bring us together
        in such unity of thought.

  7. Lovely…”A bend in the road is not the end of the road – unless you fail to make the turn”
Yes… God always leads us on the path of progress but sometimes we are so relaxed in our comfort zone, that we don’t like to take the path which we donot expect.
A similar experience I had long time ago…I was comfortable in my place of work…it was closer to the station, less time taken to reach home, familiar friends with me,..Then my boss got a promotion and was asked to move to another location. He wanted me too to go along with him..Perhaps that was the path of my progress too…but I didn’t expect this path since it was difficult.. The location was far from the railway station..I needed to take a bus to reach the station then after reaching the station and taking my train back home, again I needed to take a bus to reach my house. So I would be reaching home very late. Again the next day I would have to leave very early to reach office on time. One can imagine the plight of a working girl who had to complete her cooking, cleaning and other jobs before leaving for office..which was 2 hours away from home. Initially I was shattered, I wept and expressed a lot of resistance to accept my new place of work.
Then the comforter gently came to me…”He who trusts in God’s protection and hopes in Hin when fears alarm is sheltered by His loving kindness, delivered by His mighty arm.
He leads you after His own council. His will is fone and still shall be, All good for you Jis wisdom has planned, Oh trust in Hin and understand.,” I can’t recollect this hymn no. But it surely brought immediate comfort and trust in Gods plan for me. I was more calm, composed and took my new place of work more gracefully. It was such a healing experience. I met all my old friends there who were so loving and good. I enjoyed working there…and God made everything easy for me. In fact when the time came to shift again, I was reluctant to leave this God guided place of work.
I learnt my lesson that one must gracefully accept wherever Divine Mind leads us, for that’s the best place for us, though initially we are reluctant to accept and the path seems difficult. But if God has planned it for us, certainly it leads to progress and happiness.

  8. A favorite hymn, #148

In heavenly Love abiding, No change my heart shall fear
And safe is such confiding, For nothing changes here
The storms may roar without me, My heart may low be laid
But God is round about me, And can I be dismayed?
Wherever He may guide me, No want shall hold me back
My Shepherd is beside me, And nothing can I lack
His wisdom ever waketh, His sight is never dim
He knows the way He taketh, And I will walk with Him
Green pastures are before me, Which yet I have not seen
Bright skies will soon be o’er me, Where darkest clouds have been
My hope I cannot measure, My path in life is free
My Father has my treasure, And He will walk with me.

Lisa, keep praying….We know that one glimpse of the countercurrent of divine Love is powerful enough to dissolve the “blundering dispatches” of the mortal dream.

    1. I’m grateful to Lisa and Arline for mentioning the fires in Canada. I did a bit of reading about it, and now can start praying to expose the error behind this aggressive appearance and affirm God’s cooling, calming, protective Harmony embracing all, continuously. Let’s join in knowing this Truth.

      1. Thank you, Rose. What a beautiful thought:
“God’s cooling, calming, protective Harmony embracing all, continuously.” Yes, I join you and all Spirit Viewers in this Truth. And I am so very grateful.

  9. Thank you for your references towards Fire…
The Law of Spirit does not give permission
for any other-ness than Gods Divine Unity
Protection, Harmony, Universal Bliss is Rich.
    Spiritually,
    the living waters always flowing
We Know Gods home and Christ is always in tune,
… rest in peace, already..comments are inspiring ..One way, all ways

  10. Carol, thanks so much for sharing “The Bend in the Road” by Helen Steiner Rice. Also, the reminder about the caterpillar thinking it was the end just it became a beautiful butterfly. I greatly appreciate all of the comments here today.

  11. Thank you very much Evan for today`s topic! And I am very very grateful for the inspiring comments, hymns, poems and the article from “J” which I printed out to read this evening!
For me it is important to know that God leads us safely straight on and around the turns and corners and is always with us all and we can trust Him/Her – wonderful!
This afternoon I was in need of all these helpful comments. And I was also very grateful for the replay of yesterday`s life online Wednesday Testimony Meeting of TMC, specially for the wonderful testimonies which were read so lovingly. I“m grateful to God who gives us all we need, and he knows what we need. The DailyLift from TMC with the title “Who knows?” God does” was also very helpful. All in All I am thankful for a healing God`s Day!!!
