Give all power to God

October 25, 2023 | 22 comments

Mankind must learn that evil is not power. Its so-called despotism is but a phase of nothingness.

~ Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 102

Reports of evil coming to us through the news are not a call to despair and despond. They are a call on our practice of Truth and Love to reverse the claims of evil and see the operation of omnipotent good in their place.

Evil is not the power it claims to be. But it is incumbent upon us to prove this truth with an understanding and demonstration of God’s omnipotent goodness. The somethingness of God understood proves the nothingness of evil.

  1. Thanks Evan sir for inspiring to be with Divine alone always as when we acknowledge that God, good, is infinite and All in all then our hearts will be filled with Life and Truth and Love. We can never be separated from the wisdom that God bestows on us and God is not power for both evil and good.

  2. If evil is nothing then in a conflict there are no bad actors. We don’t have to choose sides..
    Our goal in healing is to see that only good has power and only good exist..

  3. Love the hands reaching out In a
    loving embrace.
    We are all in the embrace of our dear
    loving Father.
    Happy happy embraced in God day,
    all day, every day.
    Thanks again Evan, for your embracing us, and
    the world

  4. Thank you Evan. Hymn 10 assures us of the Allness of God. Below is the first stanza
    All power is given unto our God,
    On Him we place reliance;
    With Truth from out His sacred word
    We bid our foes defiance.
    With Him we shall prevail,
    Whatever may assail;
    He is our shield and tower,
    Almighty is His power;
    His kingdom is forever.

  5. Thank you, Evan, as always.

    This edition of the SpiritView is particularly helpful as I pray about the opioid crisis just a few blocks away. We have a group of politicians and public health officials who are more concerned about upholding the “rights” of those in addiction to remain in addiction, despite the dangers not only to them but to the extended community.

    Mortal mind often works from the standpoint of removing accountability for human behaviors but justifying it.

    The truths you state here are very helpful to work with:

    “Evil is not the power it claims to be. But it is incumbent upon us to prove this truth with an understanding and demonstration of God’s omnipotent goodness. The somethingness of God understood proves the nothingness of evil.”

  6. Thank you, Evan, as always.

    1. Bob,
      I understand your frustration about “enabling” drug use. There are people who understand and are making a difference. Peak Recovery is one of them;

      https://www.peakrecoverypnw.org/about

      They are an example of love in action.

      It is hard to see God as supreme when you had Purdue and the Sackler’s distributing OxyContin like candy. I am grateful Christian Science gives people a safer choice than drugs when addressing pain. Maybe we have to go through this as a nation to wake up to the Truth about pharmaceuticals. When one believes a lie, the mortal picture is often uncomfortable and ugly. But when the lie is discovered as a lie, it disappears into its native nothingness. If people had recognized comfort does not come in the form of a pill, Purdue and the Sackler’s never would have had any supposed power at all. I am praying with you that people see the Truth and are set free.

  7. Much needed strength through power… God’s omnipresent Power. Thank you, Evan
    and felllow Spiritviewers.
    Often the news feels like a battle between Dave and Goliath, with armies of frightening
    images in a state of evil’s attempt to invade our peace with fear. But there are so many
    thankfully standing up to forces that would try to lessen our fortitude in God’s protection
    and Love. The Kingdom within of harmony, brings together a Peace that we can cherish
    and adore. Being One with God’s Love helps bring about a better world and like
    with angels of God’s thoughts encircling us, being children of God, we feel this Love in
    ways we’ve never felt before.

  8. One of the ways I’ve been praying about the situation in Israel comes from something Evan taught us a while back. That when we gather and meet with people we should remember that we ‘Meet in the Mind of God.’ To me this is the true place we are at all times which includes only Reality, spiritual reality, all good, all safe, all harmonious, all God. So I pray to know that right there where everything seems to be so tragic, they Meet in the Mind of God.

    1. This is a very positive way of looking at the challenges of the world, today, Rose, Thank you.
      In the Mind of God. One Mind instead of conflicting many little minds. I have found that
      today has brought forth many positive things in helping to make the world a better place and refreshing to have seen in the news about putting God first… “in God we Trust” even mentioned.
      I also heard someone say today “about a new sheriff being in town Led by God”. Yes, God’s guidance and putting Him first and included in prayer is definitely inspiring and very comforting…
      reaching out with Love to all in need… Working together for harmony/unity instead of division
      between races, religions and so many other ways error in thinking tries to control the world.

  9. In giving “all power to God”, I came across this:

    Ways to reach God…
    Look back and Thank God,
    Look forward and Trust God,
    Look around and Serve God and
    Look within and Find God.

    The way I understand this…God’s Love has always been with us, is with us now and
    will always be with us, no matter what the mortal appearance may seem to be.

  10. Thanks Evan. It reminds me of Hymn 461
    We cannot turn away from God
    because whichever way we face,
    Spirit is there, In every place,
    ,every direction, everywhere
    Spirit is there.
    As Spirit,God/ good is everywhere, there is no place for evil. God is the creator of good only. Evil has no battery backup from God, hence its nothingness. Thanks to other contributors also

  11. Carol, thanks for the Ways to reach God. And thanks to J for the
    link to an inspiring article. Actually, thanks to all for your comments.

  12. Wonderful, Evan, “The somethingness of God understood proves the nothingness of evil.” Thank you very much for this important toppic: Give all Power to God !!
    Am working on it, know I have to let go all evil, also evil thoughts, which often demands some prayers, so that God, omnipotent divine Mind, can take over!

    Thank you all for your inspired, helpful ideas!♡
