God never forsakes us

November 14, 2018 | 18 comments

On occasion, I hear people facing trials and feeling helpless about their plight say something like, “I feel like God has forsaken me.” I remind them that God never forsakes us. It’s material sense that forsakes God.

A cure for feeling forsaken is to shift from seeking help through material sense to finding God in spiritual sense.

God is Spirit, and God’s help comes to us spiritually. If we’re seeking God’s help through material sense or means, we’re likely to feel separated from God, for God is not in matter. God is Mind, and God’s help comes to us through spiritual sense in the form of ideas, inspirations, guidance, wisdom and power to demonstrate health, strength and life. As we tune into spiritual sense, and seek divine Mind’s help, we find it. But material sense is ever a dark place for thought to dwell.

So, if you’re sitting around feeling helpless and forsaken, sit no more! Don’t wait for God to come to you in a material sense of things. Go to God with your spiritual sense, and find God’s presence now. It’s as close as the thoughts you think.

God never forsakes you. He constantly loves you without fail and gives you everything you need to be up, healthy and well. Seek God’s help in Spirit and you will find it.

“For God has said, ‘I will never fail you. I will never abandon you’” Hebrews 13:5, NLT.

  1. Thank you Evan. It was lovely to read these comforting thoughts this morning. I particularly like the NLT translation of the verse from Hebrews.

  2. ” go to God with your spiritual sense, and find God’s presence now. It’s as close as the thoughts you think.”
    ” seek God’s help in Spirit…”
    I loooooooove this!

  3. This topic sure was “right on” for me today. Dealing with a long standing problem and feeling forsaken. Not sure though what I’m doing wrong, nor how I could better approach God for healing. It always ends up, “What am I doing wrong?” Or “ How to do it differently so I’m not always knocking at a door that doesn’t open? Very frustrating. Thanks for the timely reminder though to rethink this and ask for guidance.

    1. Hi Charla,

There’s an article on jsh today that deals with that feeling of, “What am I doing wrong?”
I wasn’t able to link it, but it’s called Stick with What’s True about You. It’s one of the rotating banner articles.

        1. Thanks a lot Beatrice for that link to this wonderfully inspiring and very helpful article. Could open it and read with gratitude for the clearness of the loving metaphysics Heidi van Patten does present the
          Truth about that situation.

Thank you Evan that you make us ponder this topic, and thank you all for your thoughts hereby.

          1. Thank you Evan, to bring us near to God; it is so merciful and comforting showing us the way how to find help and healing and where – in Him, God, Love! 🙂

  4. Which is more likely? God forsaking us or us forgetting that God is always spiritually present for in Him we live and breathe and have our being. Thank you, Evan, what a great start to the day.

  5. Material sense is deceptive. It plays tricks and makes us feel cut off from our divine source, God. But there can never be a moment when God is not with us. “God the Divine Principle of man, and man in God likeness are inseparable, harmonious and eternal.”
Spiritual sense helps us to see the reality that we are harmoniously existent in Truth (God) and no situation, however challenging, can make us feel helpless. “Spiritual sense is the constant consciousness capacity to understand God.” It is this understanding of God, the all-knowing, all-seeing, all-acting, all-loving, and all-wise God, which places us on the rock. Nothing can shake us and nothing can break us if we are firmly grounded on this rock.
If we do not allow the material picture to mesmerise us, and rise above it, to dwell in the spiritual reality, it’s amazing to see a total turn around in the situation. It’s because God is always in control and He can make an angel entertain unawares.

  6. Brings to mind one of Mrs. Eddy’s poems/hymns: “Seek holy thoughts and heavn’ly strain that make men one in love remain.” For me it’s always the strong physical signals or pains when I start to allow myself to feel so physical, so limited. It’s when I rise up to spiritual guidance from God’s one mind that I find peace and am led to healing. It is a rock indeed!

  7. “Divine Love always has met
    and always will meet
    every human need.”

    -Mary Baker Eddy

…I think of the thousands Jesus fed with real bread and real fish, out of a few basketsfull……….

    Truth is not abstract!!
    The belief that it is
    is error all the way!!

God is LOVE, the all-knowing MIND!

  8. Thanks Evan for reminding us that God is always with us, ever present and active in loving us, caring for us, knowing us as His/Her beloved child. That nothing is ever out of His reach, care or Her boundless love! Thanks to this Spiritview community in sharing ideas and articles to support one another. It truly demonstrates the Christly idea of loving our neighbor as ourselves! Loved the article referenced above “Stick with what is true about you.” The link works and I found it is worth while to study. 🙂

  9. I’m unusually late in getting to read this blog, but what a blessing to be able to absorb more of the inspiring comments shared. Much thanks to all!

  10. Thank you Evan for this reminder and thank you to all for your inspiring comments. Beatrice thanks for that link that clearly answers the question “what am I doing wrong?”

  11. Good reminder to watch our thinking and see what we are accepting as real. As Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health: “stand porter at the door…” Remember to let in the “sunlight of Truth.”
