Harbor no fear of the coronavirus

April 2, 2020 | 39 comments

“When fear disappears, the foundation of disease is gone.”

~ Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 368

If you’d like to stay free of any effect from the coronavirus, harbor absolutely no fear of it!

As Eddy points out above, fear is the foundation of disease. Like a house needs a foundation to stand on, disease needs a foundation too. If the foundation does not exist, the disease capitulates and disintegrates. Without fear, disease doesn’t have a foundation to stand on.

So, don’t allow mortal mind to build a foundation for disease in your thinking. Remain fear-free!

This is doable through knowing the omnipotence of God.

Rather than entertaining theories, fears and beliefs about the coronavirus, focus on the power and presence of God that is actively keeping you alive and well, healthy and strong.

Know your oneness with God. Know that God is the only influence at work in your life. Denounce disease. See its unreality in light of God’s omnipresence. Have no fear of it. Love God instead.

Live fearlessly and stay healthy!

  1. Wow! Another fabulous piece of inspired work, thank you so much Evan!

I was looking at the original poem which led to Hymn 317, “Still, still with Thee”.

The last stanza is not used in the Hymn, however it is lovely and rather compliments your photo!

“When sinks the soul, subdued by toil, to slumber,
     Its closing eye looks up to Thee in prayer;
Sweet the repose beneath the wings o’ershading,
But sweeter still to wake and find Thee there.”
    Harriet Beecher Stowe

    1. Shelagh, thanks so much for posting this. So encouraging about going to sleep and waking up. And to Evan for his thoughts.

  2. The picture remind me of song from Annie
“The sun will come up tomorrow!”.
The presence of God assures us that His
Harmonious govt is assured today and
    Tomorrow.
Thanks Evan for keeping us aware!

  3. Thank you Evan for sharing your inspiration. Of all the pictures you post, I love the one. The light in the darkness and home is the dearest place as once said. Also it seems as if dawn is coming or the suns is setting with light, focus on Love.

  4. Thank you Evan, and all, for your continuous, prayerful work. This is leading us all into the light of Truth.
    ❤️

  5. Thank you Evan for this beautiful article. It was just what I needed and has really uplifted my thought. I too love the photo which accompanies this article. I feel very blessed.

  6. I value how peace and love go together.. If you are having difficulty feeling love then slow down and it will come to you..
Fear makes us speed up and worry.. Love invites us to slow down and feel God’s power.
Evan thank you for inviting us to slow down with your healing and comforting words..

  7. It is important that we have these continual reminders to keep us alert and watchful. Thank you Evan.
    Sally

  8. Today I overheard some talk about the “foundation ” of the CV and it “source” etc so this is a timely post Evan.
I think our hymns are really great ..so many perfect words and many of the new hymns have beautiful melodies too!

    HYMN 267
    Our God is All-in-all,
    His children cannot fear;
    See baseless evil fall,
And know that God is here.
Our God is All; in space
    No subtle error creeps;
    We see Truth’s glowing face,
    And Love that never sleeps.
    We see creative Mind,
    The Principle, the Life;
    And Soul and substance find,
    But never discord, strife.
    O, Perfect and Divine,
    We hear Thy loving call,
    And seek no earthly shrine
But crown Thee Lord of all.

  9. Thank you Evan , and all, for the rays of sunshine (Love) and (Truth) that you share everyday.
Its wonderful to hear such positive @nd helpful thoughts❤️

  10. I love the hymns and find them so helpful, along with these healing messages.
I often flip randomly through the hymnal and it is awesome how apropos the
angel thoughts are so pertinent and comforting in need. Just now hymn 14 came
    up:
Arise, arise and shine, on thee hath dawned the day; God is thy sun and Christ
thy light Be thou a steadfast ray….For Truth’s clear light on thee have shone, And
purified thy thought….And let thy living light show forth Man’s unity with God”.
Perfect!! : ) Like in the photo, our home, our Thought can shine and bring us out
of darkness, like a brand new day!

  11. We live in a world of symbols reflecting thoughts. The sunshine we all love, in it’s correct place often symbolizes enlightening Truth and Love. We are Love’s rays coming from that light, when we reflect the Christ.
We let our light shine when we comfort and give reassurance that “Love” is protection.

Yesterday a dear friend was taken to the hospital. I asked for help to see this friend in the proper light. As the symptoms of his difficulty were related to me I started to stream tears.
The thought I’m so grateful for is being careful not to take unto me a graven image. The question was asked, “‘What kind of image are you engraving into your thought?” My imagination at once was changed from one imagining disability to one of the uprightness and nobleness of this most noble and decent man.

    Sunshine is a purification agent and so is the ozone apparent after a lightning storm;
It kills and turns to ashes anything foreign in the air. The symbol is that we live and breath in an atmosphere of Love Divine. And it cleanses the atmosphere of mortal mind.

It’s another day in the sunlight of SpiritView, Thanks to all and to Evan for his perfect healing work.

    1. Dear David, I love your paragraph on the sunshine, lightning storm and Love Divine. and I’m so grateful to “know” with you that there never has been a belief calling itself a mortal sense of you, your friend or any lie about God, I am rejoicing that as a Christian Scientist you are all one with your own BE-ing and the Reality of things, Still with Thee, knowing no life divided from Love, in heavenly Love abiding for nothing has changed here. God, our Mind is seeing everything He has made and beholding it as very good. You are clearly seen that only Love is flowing, and not a belief. This noble and decent Idea of God was never lost in a false sense of man, never born, never dying – and hasn’t fallen from his high estate. SH 258:27 ~ “Never born and never dying, it were impossible for man, under the government of God in eternal Science, to fall from his high estate.” Hugs.

  12. Evan, your message is so powerful. No fear, no disease! This was proven many years ago when scientists did a study on influenza using 50 Volunteers from the US Navy. These men were fearless, and no matter how they tried to infect them, NOT ONE of them became sick! See the article
The experiments made at Goat Island by Navy doctors…

    1. Research- I could not find the original newspaper source, but it is interesting that it was reported that “Christian Scientists were required to wear masks” during the 1918-19 pandemic..Even so, there were many healings published in the C.S. periodicals in the few months and years that followed.
This week’s Bible lesson- Unreality -(published and distributed months ago) is so timely.
So grateful for all that Christian Science teaches and for Spiritview for reminding us.

    1. That’s one of my favourite articles Ellen. I have just reread it. Thanks for the reminder!

  13. Many thanks to you all.
David, I’m sure you know that all our readers sent a prayer of healing to your friend in the hospital.

  14. Remember Job “the thing that I greatly feared has come upon me”. But – our remedy for that is “Perfect Love casts out fear.”

  15. Some ideas on notes I took regarding fear from articles in JSH:

    * Realize fully the inseparable unity of man with God – no unity with some fearful concept.

    * Be conscious of reality – love God so loyally that you don’t ascribe power or reality to disease

    * Deny existence of matter and you destroy belief in material conditions. Nothing can bring freedom from fear as denial of matter.

    * That which fears is not consciousness. Consciousness of Mind is present where anxiety seems to be.

    * Have a scientific sense of God’s allness and power always gives a sense of proportion.

    * There is no situation, person, limitation that can stop us from adopting spiritual perspective today.

    * God creates nothing fearsome or fearful.

    * Where fear seems to be Life is manifesting its majestic perfection, Love is knowing its eternality and allness.

    * Life has never been subject to pain, loss and has never been shaken by fear.

    * Face fear with absolute facts of being

    * All that exists is divine Life and its untroubled expression, man and the universe.

These were concepts which stood out to me from SOME ANSWERS TO FEAR by Geoffrey Barratt and FEAR NOT by Helen Wood Bauman. I like to write down quotes from S&H and Bible on a topic like fear and also find ideas and record what seems to me their essence in articles in Sentinel and Journal to think about.

  16. Dear, dear Evan,
Your very powerful and much-needed blog is surely doing its work! Thank you so much for the love that goes into it.
Yes! Very clear! No fear equals no disease!

  17. “Disease…is [only] fear seen and felt…”
    1st step: Don’t be afraid!
    2nd step: No error!
    3rd step: Yes God!
    4th step: Jump for joy!

  18. Thank you so much, Evan, and all SpiritView followers. I know that even those who do not comment are praying and adding to the fearless consciousness of Perfect Love.
Many Blessings To All. And, David, we know that your friend lives, moves and has his being in Divine Love. He is eternally enfolded in Love, as are we all.

  19. Evan: thank you so much for your mini-lecture on abolition of fear, and on other subjects pertinent to coronavirus. SpiritViewers, thank you all for your contributions..

  20. Knowing our oneness with our Father Mother God–that we are His Her creation, innocent and dearly loved, fortifies my thought against the chatter of this virus challenge. As we keep our spiritual focus strong, we can reject and refute the clouds of worry and anxiety that the media predicts regarding this situation. In an article that was shared with me, titled “Casting Down Imaginations” in the Feb. 1999 Journal, authored by Jan Kassahn Keeler, I found good ideas about healing this anxiety–this fear & worry that is most helpful. Thanks to everyone sharing, praying and loving our friends, neighbors and world!

    1. Sue, thank you for the link to this article. I will read and be blessed by it again and again. Very helpful!

    2. Thank you for sharing this article. In addition to relieving fear about disease, I also found this quote extremely helpful with regards to business: “The future is not your business. The future is God’s business. And it will be good.”

  21. As always, your faithful loving work is greatly appreciated, Evan! Thank you very much! Also thank you to all SpiritView readers and commenters. “Love inspires, illumines, designates, and leads the way” (Science & Health 454:18)

  22. “focus on the power and presence of God that is actively keeping you alive and well, healthy and strong.” What can we do when we are unable to “feel” the presence of God. Knowing all of the right thoughts and what the Truth is, doesn’t necessarily enable us to truly “feel” God’s presence.
Thanks to all who have shared links to helpful and inspiring articles. I have read them all.

    1. Dear Lori, This is where faith comes in! I always thought I needed to somehow work hard to get enough faith until I read this in Science and Health: speaking of our heavenly Father… “who gives us faith and understanding…” p.387:30 Wow! I realized I didn’t have to get faith but just accept that I had it from my heavenly Father. What a relief. We just keep on, keeping on, affirming the truth, and having faith that God IS present. Don’t give up! I like where Mrs. Eddy assures us “Truth has a healing effect, even when not fully understood.” p.152:8. So we can still “focus on the power and presence of God that is actively keeping you alive and well, healthy and strong.” whether we feel God’s presence or not, and benefit from it. I like to dwell on the idea of “As a drop of water is one with the ocean,…even so God and man, Father and son (daughter), are one in being.” p.361:16 I just close my eyes and feel myself cradled in, and completely surrounded by, this all encompassing ocean of God. This helps me “feel” God’s presence. It gives me such comfort. So, just keep knowing the Truth. Be vehement! You can do it! I’ll keep you in my prayers. Lovingly, Rhonda

      1. Absolutely beautiful and so helpful, Rhonda. I appreciate Lori’s openness and honesty in her question — one which many of us (including me) are struggling with when trying to feel God’s presence during this time of deep need. And my appreciation continues with your response. I am sure both of you have benefitted many many others with your comments.

  23. Thank you Rhonda for your loving and thoughtful response, and Lisa also. It’s greatly appreciated.

  24. Beautiful truthful ideas!!! Thanks for your counter facting this seeming rampant fear spread, with the unalterable components associated with Omnipotent, Omnipresent, Omniscient Love, yea the kingdom of Heaven, which is interwoven and fully saturating all of humanity!!!!!
