Keep prayer productive

July 22, 2020 | 32 comments

Have you ever spent time praying to see a good outcome, but wondering if disease, mishap, or trouble is still in control? If so, thought has veered from knowing healing truth to being distracted by mortal mind.

Constructive prayer is not spent wondering about error but productive in knowing spiritual truth.

For the best results, focus mental energies, effort, and time on knowing Truth, not on wondering about error, and you will get to a better place much faster.

  1. Thank you so much, Evan. It makes me think of this from S&H p 421: “Insist vehemently on the great fact that covers the whole ground, that God, Spirit is all, and that there is none beside Him. There is no disease.”

    1. Helpful comment, David M! Thank you! Also, thank you, Evan as I’m applying this to my current prayers!

  2. Absolute! No room for doubt and fearing the presence of mortal mind to offset the work of God.
That’s keeping our thoughts full of truth and love. Evil can have no place where all space is filled with Good.

  3. FOG

    Focus on God

Heard this last week and it really resonated.

As always, great inspired blog Evan.

    Thank you

    1. Love that, Shelagh,. I , also, was told many yrs ago…SMOG…was
      See More Of God.
Thank you, Evan and everyone for your gratitude and so helpful thoughts.

  4. Yes Evan, keeping our mind filled with God’s presence and power will keep out erroneous thought! There can be no disease as God is here!

  5. Thank you, Evan!
Each morning I awake to see what helpful thought you will present – and the wonderful comments that follow.
Interesting today that DavidM mentions Mary Baker Eddy’s statement, “Insist vehemently on the great fact that covers the whole ground, that God, Spirit, is all, and that there is none beside Him. There is no disease.” S&H 421:15-18 (“no disease” is in italics. I often think of that as dis-ease in these unsettling times.)
David Hohles’s Daily Lift “Insist Vehenently” – is an extraordinary Lift of knowing
spiritual Truth and applying it! I refer to it frequently.
(My apologies for not including the link, but not sure how to do it .)

    1. Hi Joyce,
Brian was helpful in bringing up a link on yesterday’s page that Patty had
been inquiring about, with a great article. Apparently if you put http:// in front of the link, it comes up so it can be clicked on. Thank you again, Brian. I’m sure that will prove helpful for future links in sharing.

  6. Chatting last night with a fellow currency trader who was sharing with me a physical problem, I responded thus. “I don’t believe in disease having been on my death bed and healed with Christian Science.” My thought was to make a statement to protect my thought from other beliefs that were not wanted for either myself or anyone else. We must decide that which we will allow in thought before it takes over our lives with its deceptive nature turning us away from truth to that which is untrue.

  7. Jesus said ‘Fear not little flock, for it is your Fathers pleasure to give you the Kingdom!’ Luke 12;32
Would he want us to suffer? No. Would he want us to feel fear? Never!. I try never to forget the closeness of Gods Love and guidance. Thank you Evan for every days treatment.❣️

  8. How did you know, Evan, that this is exactly what I needed to hear today? So grateful for your daily messages!

    1. Thank you for sharing this lift by David Hohle’s Lift “Insist Vehemently”. God’s word it strong and true. God is All!
Thanks to Evan for the counsel to stay focused on the message of our prayers and to support them in our thought and actions through out the day. Persistence keeps the message active in our daily practice!

    2. The fact that God is All really covers the whole ground and this reminder can help all of us to know the truth in this present situation.

  9. Yes, it did, Joyce. Thank you! That was a perfect demonstration of how productive prayer, Love, became in control. These add-ons/comments to the original treasure of the day, that Evan shares are so inspiring and helpful.

  10. Thank you for that link as it was a powerful demonstration of healing with the quick sharp sword of Truth!

  11. I am told that even a little understanding is never lost. As I pray for my dog I am praying for myself to
understand and see us both as perfect ideas of God, We don’t suffer from the truth, just holding onto the lies.

  12. Thank you Evan and everyone that has commented. When listening to the David Hohle Daily Lift (thanks Joyce!), after just having read Evan’s message for today, it occurred to me very clearly that what David was dealing with was not a material coyote attacking his material dog. David was dealing with the “suggestion” of a dangerous coyote, not subject to the laws of God that maintain perfect harmony. That is the only way I can reconcile how David, holding to the truth about God, could “change” that situation. In other words, David, and the rest of us, see what we hold in thought as “reality”. And when we change our thoughts about reality, what currently appears to us as a material experience changes too.

Lately I’ve been practicing knowing that everything is actually spiritual, not material. For example, when I brush my teeth I think to myself “that person that looks material in the mirror is not actually me…I am spiritual and therefore I am composed of God’s right ideas with no material elements”.

When praying it can be tempting to “veer back” to thinking a) “what caused this problem I’m dealing with” or b) “is the situation being healed,”, etc. But we can recognize those temptations to “veer from knowing the healing truth” for what they are…just suggestions that if entertained will only cause the problem to continue to seem real to us. More and more I’m able to recognize these suggestions as not having their source in God and reverse them with the truths I have prayed about. And that always results in healing being experienced!

The physical healing of Christian Science results now, as in Jesus’ time, from the operation of divine Principle, before which sin and disease lose their reality in human consciousness and disappear as naturally and as necessarily as darkness gives place to light and sin to reformation.

  13. This is all just what I desperately needed – the blog and each of the comments, too many to recognize individually. Thanks and deep gratitude to all!

  14. Thank you Joyce, I came back on this afternoon hoping that someone had found and posted Dave’s daily lift. It is so good.
As always, so much gratitude to Evan.

  15. Thank you dear Evan!
The answer to your question in your first paragraph is: yes I have, but at the same time I knew that I havn’t prayed enough and had to do better.
Thank you specially for your last paragraph. Thinking about that I am gladly aware that I am on the right track meanwhile.
Dear Brian, thank you very much for your yesterday’s link to Riekes’ article.

  16. I’m so glad to read Evan’s posts on a daily basis. Thank you Evan and to all of you who communicate Spiritual thoughts and experiences here. God is ‘ALL’ …..

  17. Thank you Joyce for the link to David Hohle’s Daily Lift. Very inspiring. I too had a similar experience. The firm, loud, declaration “God is here!” broke up a fierce dog fight. “The word of God is quick and powerful…”!!!
Thank you Evan for your helpful blog and everyone for your comments.(=
