Watching missiles destroy civilian targets in Ukraine is heart-wrenching. It is senseless malicious animal magnetism at its height. But I pray to not let my thought remain at a depressing level.
I watch many survivors talk about how they will continue to fight for the survival of their country no matter what odds they face. They do not consider giving up. There is a spirit within them that lifts their sense above the rubble around them to high ideals they are committed to fighting for. Failure is not an option in their mind.
When I see that unbreakable spirit shine through, I think of the quote from Job, “The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life (Job 33:4, NKJV). It’s a reminder that man’s life and being does not rest in destructible matter, but in immortal Spirit. No bomb can destroy the substance of Spirit. No missile can threaten Spirit’s existence.
Bomb’s may fall, but Spirit will forever stand. Missiles may land, but Spirit will never be hit.
It’s Spirit that will carry the Ukrainian people forward and propel them to victory over all that assails them. It’s Spirit that will have the final say, for Spirit is indestructible.

Well said yes! I love that Evan! Thank you. This situation has been the theme for readings at our church ever since the situation started. I’m reminded that MBE says “not one iota of good can be destroyed by error ” (or something like that.) and it sure doesn’t seem like it when we look at the material pictures but as she also says “Keep thought on the enduring the good and the true…” and that is is the power and presence of God’s spiritual creation
We will ultimately see the destruction of evil. Spirit reigns supreme over the claims of inharmony and injustice. It’s now a time for reliance and inspiration for “peculiar people” to see the unfailing cruse of oil and the barrel of meal. That’s our job. That’s what we do.
Substance and dwellings are home and they are power.
We are so grateful for this forum where the Truth destroys fear with the “sword of Truth”,

Rod thanks for this article, so on target for today (and written in 1940 during World War 2). It mentioned Mrs. Eddy’s concept of chemicalization, a helpful framework for understanding all the seeming upheavals going on in the world.

Mary Baker Eddy writes, “Error found out is two-thirds destroyed, and the last third pierces itself, for the remainder only stimulates and gives scope to higher demonstration (Miscellaneous Writings 1883—1896, p. 355). We will expect the last third to destroy itself as we attain higher understsnding/demonstration of harmony.
The self-destruction of evil was pointed out in so many of Mrs. Eddy’s writings . . . thank you for reminding us of this Truth!

Thank you for speaking about this situation. I have knowledge of two people who are in Mariupol and have not been heard from. I pray for them and all, often using the 91st psalm. It is hard to quell my fears but I know fear is not what they need but they need affirmation of the power of Good, for all.
I pray the Russian people rise up, all people rise up and not except fear and pain as normal. It is difficult for all of us to turn our thinking around and know only Good is present, and evil is but an aggressive suggestion.

Recently, I have listened to “God’s law of adjustment” (by Adam Dickey) on JSH online, over and over again, and each time, this gives me so much peace, when praying for Ukraine and the Ukrainien people. The very first sentence “Man lives by divine decree”, is such a comfort. .. and also when Adam Dickey says: “If a man were drowning in mid-ocean with apparently no human help at hand, there is a law of God which, when rightly appealed to, would bring about his rescue. Does the reader doubt this? Then he must believe that it is possible for man to find himself in a condition where God cannot help him. If one were in a burning building or a railroad accident, or if he were in a den of lions, there is a law of God which would at once adjust the apparent material circumstances so as instantaneously to bring about his complete deliverance.”

God, good made every one of us, including those that appear to be demonstrating evil. It’s not popular to say that we should pray for those who are called tyrants and despots, but as students of Christian Science, who else is equipped to see and state the truth that God never created a tyrant, never created beings that are attracted to war, violence, material gains, human power. He created beings drawn to Peace, Love, Harmony. The appearance of error can be neutralized by remembering and claiming what constitutes the child of God, every child of God, even the ones we want to hate materially. That’s a powerful prayer.

In my prayers, I consistently work on knowing that evil has no power to tear apart a nation, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, evil cannot parade as a person, or a destructive power. This situation has brought back memories of WW2 and the devastation of cities and towns in the UK and it is so clear that the idea of home, the idea of business and service, the idea of worship cannot be touched by war but is always present and available and Mind gives the ideas as to how they can be expressed. Ukraine will rise again. It is inevitable.
