You have what you need

Are you ever tempted to think you lack something important?  If so, turn to God to find that lack met.

I love this promise from the Bible, “God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work” (II Cor. 9:8, NKJV).

With God, we always have “all sufficiency in all things.”  The key to demonstrating this truth, though, is to understand that God blesses us with spiritual things, not material things, spiritual things like wisdom, understanding, penetrating insight, love, creativity, and a healthy state of Mind, which all, when practiced, translate into wise action that brings good results, solutions that solve problems, and spiritual mindedness that keeps the body healthy.

Material things come and go.  They are temporal, mortal vapor, that can’t be depended upon for long run success.

Spiritual things come from God and they stick and stay.  Their blessings continue to multiply forever.

Seek the spiritual and you will find “sufficiency in all things.”  You will have what you need.  You will not lack.

  1. I’m finishing a big job this afternoon and pay wasn’t discussed beforehandas it developedout of a sudden need. The daily demands were nearly overwhelming at times. I’ve been thinking all morning “I hope I get paid for my worth.”
Now, here this morning, this SV article is confirmation that I most definitely will be paid fair wage. Because it is neither my, nor my employer’s decision. It is our Father govening, All things considered.
    What blesses one, blesses All.
    Thank you, Peace is priceless!

  2. This is a wonderful help for the continuation of my prayers, having been working on a problem of severe lack of an essential practical
need which became exceedingly faulty, to say the least.

Here is one of the messages that came to me, that ties in with this topic:
    ,
“The Psalmist saith: “He shall give His angels charge over thee.” God gives you His spiritual ideas, and in turn, they give you daily supplies. Never ask for to-morrow: it is enough that divine Love is an ever-present help; and if you wait, never doubting, you will have all you need every moment. What a glorious inheritance is given to us through the understanding of omnipresent Love! More we cannot ask: more we do not want: more we cannot have. This sweet assurance is the “Peace, be still” to all human fears, to suffering of every sort”.
(Miscellaneous Writings 1883–1896, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 306:23)

Waiting, and never doubting that promise Evan quotes from
2 Corinthians means really believing in it, and waiting patiently and
expectantly for what God is revealing to us through our trials. Greater
good always comes from these trials; it tests our faith in God. When
we gain more faith, we see more good.

  3. Thank you Evan and all for this wealth of goodness expressed. I am reminded
how Jesus, according to Biblical history, did not have material wants and
needs, a luxurious home or belongings, but had everything he needed in Spirit.
I think that is a good example of seeing our own needs met in spiritual ways.
Over the years, I have sometimes wished I had this or that. After obtaining
these “material” items that Seemed satisfying for the while, their importance
faded, as does all things mortal. Realizing gifts from loved ones, more recently,
that had been given, were items I could not afford at the time, but although
given from the heart, they are just “things”, handcrafted wreaths, candles, etc.
The thoughtfulness in their giving is what is the importance and the gift itself
is not what fulfills our desires, but the love shared, which can never be
    measured in material ways.

  4. Thank you Evan and all! The Bible verse Evan shared today was in the CS Bible Lesson last week. When I read it, I remember hearing this suggestion: “That promise hasn’t been true in your life! Think about the times when you lacked and didn’t have sufficiency to do some good work!” I’m not proud to admit I accepted that suggestion as true. Sneaky snake!

But today when reading Evan’s post, it occurred to me that I’ve experienced sickness in the past too, or other discords, but when I knew those suggestions weren’t true about me, they disappeared from my experience. Then it occurred to me the lack I have seemed to experience in the past wasn’t true about me either and therefore I don’t need to hold any resentment about an “untrue error” about me because in reality, I’ve never lacked anything.

The truths of CS have to be *demonstrated* and that demonstration happens in thought. As Evan wrote:

The key to demonstrating this truth, though, is to understand that God blesses us with spiritual things, not material things, spiritual things like wisdom, understanding, penetrating insight, love, creativity, and a healthy state of Mind, which all, when practiced, translate into wise action that brings good results, solutions that solve problems, and spiritual mindedness that keeps the body healthy.

We have to KNOW we can’t lack as God’s manifestation. Because God doesn’t lack, we can’t lack. “Like produces like” was one of the key messages of Jesus. I’m so grateful to gain a little more understanding of that truth each day.

    1. I just reread the CS Bible Lesson section from last week in which II Cor. 9:8 appeared and from S&H was this citation that I thought fits with Evan’s message today.

As mortals gain more correct views of God and man, multitudinous objects of creation, which before were invisible, will become visible.

  5. Last Friday was a blog on handling issues on the tennis court. Since people only tend to read and comment on the current day’s blog, I am posting about that topic in today’s blog. I am not having as much on the tennis court as I used to because of a claim that is making it hard to concentrate on the game. I am missing shots I would normally make. This is a chronic issue that I cannot dismiss and get rid of with a truth or two as I have been able to do with other claims. As a result, it is effecting my demeanor on the court. Any suggestions as to how to handle this situation especially as to my demeanor. Missing shots and losing points and matches is one thing. But always being able to express God is more important to me than that. Thanks.

    1. Neale = the thought that comes to me is, why don’t you let
God express you, instead of you trying to express God.
He will, I am sure, if you let Him. Then enjoy the game
whatever the outcomes, and love all your opponents.

    2. What came to me was to suggest that you pray to know error cannot remain hidden in the light of truth…like darkness cannot continue to exist in the presence of light. Then listen for what error needs to be destroyed in your experience. It could be a better understanding that God is the only Mind and therefore you could never have a separate distracted mind or a mind that is unable to concentrate. Or it could be some resentment you are harboring towards someone that needs to be destroyed. Or it could be you are believing some other error that needs to be eliminated from thought. CS treatment isn’t formulaic. Therefore, you need to listen for the angel message that will guide you to the exact error that needs to be eliminated. But since God loves you, you can be sure healing is inevitable because healing is just revealing what is already true about you.
