As a child of God, you have divine rights—rights to health, happiness and boundless opportunity to excel in life.
Are you claiming your rights? Do you exercise them abundantly?
Mary Baker Eddy reminds us, “Citizens of the world, accept the ‘glorious liberty of the children of God,’ and be free! This is your divine right” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 227).
If you see yourself as a “child of the world,” rather than as a “child of God, you might not feel free. You might feel imprisoned by the world, by the body, by other people’s actions and conditions. But this experience can be improved.
See yourself as a citizen of God’s world, rather than a prisoner in mortal mind’s world. Live under God’s government and exercise your divine rights to health and happiness.
Accept the “glorious liberty of the children of God,” and enjoy the benefits.

Freedom is in thought. Nelson Mandela, imprisoned for his anti-apartheid action, used a poem that said he was the captain of his ship, to keep his mind clear of resentment.
Mrs. Eddy has shown us the source of all clear thinking to be God. God’s thoughts are true liberty and grace.
This must be the poem that John is referring to:

So that’s how he did it. I read his book ‘Long Walk to Freedom’ & realised at the end: that man was a saint.
Everyday I claim my rights as God’s child, but we are currently touring Europe and the Baltic countries and the overall feeling is slightly depressing. So much of the lives in Berlin and now in Estonia are steeped in memories of war. In Tallin, Estonia, we were told the people are very serious and not trusting of anyone, what a way to live.
I look at the people and think for them, you are a child of God, feel joy and happiness knowing God loves you.
Dear Elaine, the Estonians sang their way to freedom from the Soviet Union. It’s a remarkable and wonderful country, and perhaps you’re just seeing something that isn’t there.~ I found the people who have experienced the worst oppressions, become the most joyous. Claim their freedom as we claim ours. In almost every evaluation of the world‘s countries’ level of happiness, the Baltic countries.- particularly Denmark, Sweden, and Finland, – – are considered the happiest countries in the world.
And we carry our happiness with us as we identify ourselves Love’s very being.

We all, as children of God, independent of age or circumstance ARE free
to choose what we are accepting in our lives as real. Are we seeing ourselves
and others as pure, innocent – like young children who have not been
influenced, sometimes seemingly indoctrinated by worldly, material, humanly
tendencies that would imprison our thought and bog us down to matter-based
actions or conditions. The Truth shall set us free. The Truth of God’s guidance
and Love.
Thanks Evan for this inspiring thought about our right of freedom. Loved the idea of seeing ourselves as citizens of God’s government.
I also appreciate the idea of being a citizen of God’s world, never a citizen of the so-called material world. Here in the US politicians are talking about birthright citizenship, who is a citizen, is it determined by where you are born. Metaphysically we’re born as the reflection of Spirit, always spiritual as God made and makes us, so based on that, we actually are citizens only of God, of His world, His universe. Hooray!
Also in US this weekend we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of our Declaration of Independence. Spiritually it can signify becoming independent and free of any material, mortal
limitations or ideas of who we are and what we are capable of and what our rights are. Mrs. Eddy discussed some of this on the pages surrounding today’s quote from S&H (approx pages 224-228). Blessed weekend and Love to all SV spiritual buddies.
