A quick healing of illness

April 20, 2020 | 14 comments

One evening, I felt overrun by symptoms of what felt like the flu coming on. I wrote about how I prayed and found healing in an article recently published in my local newspaper, The Tri-City Herald,
“When illness struck, he believed in God’s healing.”

  1. There’s been a problem with comments not posting today. My tech guy has looked into it. I think the problem is fixed now.

    Thanks,

    Evan

  2. I’ll try, again.
Thank you for starting my day with a God-driven perspective. It’s so helpful to feel watched over and cared for in all ways. Each individual idea of God has his/her special niche.
My gratitude for your healing message each & every day.

  3. Dear Evan, After a painful day yesterday, and a troubled sleep with aches waking me throughout the night, I got up early, groaning with each step. I had worried that I couldn’t call on a Practitioner at this time of great need, and kept reminding myself that it was God I needed to go to, but simply let it go, ”hoping’ that I would eventually get to feeling better.
I sat down to study, read the article you wrote for the public, using language– not jargon Christian Scientists recognize and know– but words and explanation anyone could grasp. How I appreciate this, as I try to share Christian Science, in unobtrusive ways, with my friends, acquaintances, and people I meet; this has been my practice for a very long time.
But back to my present faulty thinking…
I got up to move around after I read your article, was standing at the kitchen sink, looking out on a glorious day dawning, and loudly declared ”I am the image and likeness of God” really letting that get fully into my mind, knowing who God IS (this took but a moment) and IMMEDIATELY felt all pain, aches, etc., simply evaporate– no, not slowly, but everything was GONE, simply not there any longer. I had to remind myself that a moment ago I was really hurting, and now I felt wonderful. OH MY! I started singing, laughing!!! I just laughed at myself for allowing myself to have wandered for a day or more through the dark thoughts of how to take care of the pain. If I couldn’t call a practitioner, would I have to get physical therapy, see a chiropractor, get a firmer mattress, etc etc… going through the whole litany of handling a LIE and its possible treatments.
    What mesmerism, pure and simple.
Once a lie is gone, it seems laughable to have been so deceived, but that is what often happens.
I am SO Very Grateful, Evan, for this day’s clear and direct healing you wrote about, and, in turn, lifted me up out of my mess!
How I love Christian Science, the Light.
SpiritView is very precious to me.

    1. Thanks Annie for sharing your light today. God’s goodness is so precious and powerful. Yes! it is always good to laugh at the masquerade of thoughts and scenarios of the material senses. I rejoice with you in the triumph of God’s perfection filling your heart, mind and soul this morning. That is true Light!!

  4. Bless you, Evan, for your beautiful gift to the general public thought that there is another way to think and be. How helpful this is! And I always treasure the healing comments of others as I turn to SpiritView each morning to establish my thinking in the Truth of God’s omnipresence.

  5. What an inspiration, Evan! Not only the speedy healing but also the printing of it in your local paper! May many of us do the same. The public is so ready to hear our GOOD news!

  6. Sometimes a light surprises
Hymn 313 is so helpful . I find so many helpful
    healing messages from hymns.
This morning I awoke with a message from a very unfamiliar hymn
I looked it up #282 . “God has made his saints victorious, Sin and
    Death shall not prevail.”
Evan you testimony proves this ! Thanks again

  7. I had a nice comment this morning but the post button did not work at all, so I could not send it.
Now I read your comments and thank you , specially for your lovely Testimony, Annie.
I had readingroom service. Now back home I read all comments up here. Thanks all!

Dear Evan thank you for your great testimony. It is very helpful for me and it touches me a lot! I learn so much from your wonderful SpiritView, even when one is a life long Christian Scientist. Learning and inspiration in CS never ends as God is eternal wisdom! Thank you Evan and thank you God!

  8. Thank you Evan,
In this weeks lesson from Psalm 27 :1
” The Lord is my light and my salvation; who shall I fear? ”
In Science and Health salvation is defined as
” Life, Truth and Love understood and demonstrated as supreme over all; sin, sickness, and death destroyed.”

  9. Dear Evan, that you so much for making this public and to the Tri-Cities Herald for publishing it! I know we CS people get to read about these healings but it seems rare that the general public gets access to them as well.

  10. Evan,
I wanted to thank you for sharing your testimony in a local paper where other’s who do not know about Christian Science can access it/read about it. There is a whole world of people out there that may not know about that option or may have heard untrue things about Christian Science and I think it is wonderful you are opening this option up to them. Choice is important.

“Ye are the salt of the Earth:…” Matthew 5:13
“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16

  11. You healing and your willingness to share it in the local paper brought this thought to mind, “ Love for God and man is the true incentive in both healing and teaching.”
(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 454:17–18)
Thank you for the love and inspiration.
