It was not what I expected to happen!!
I was using the ball machine at my tennis club. When finished, I put the equipment away, which includes an industrial sized electrical cord 25 feet long mounted on a spring-loaded self-retracting mechanism mounted on a wall. This mechanism was new to me.
As I released the coil to reel in the cord, the cord retracted with lightning speed. At the end of the cord is a wide heavy duty 3 prong rubber receptacle shaped like a Y. Before the cord fully retracted, the end of the cord bounced, swung wildly, and whammed me in the head. Ouch! The strike was a shocker, but a hit I could survive. I was not concerned.
As I walked back to my tennis bag on court, I felt liquid pouring down my face. I palmed my forehead, looked at my hand. It was covered in blood from pinky to thumb. A torrent of red was streaming down my face.
My first fear was children in a class on the next court seeing me this way. I hid my face from their view the best I could and walked toward a box of Kleenex nearby.
As I prayed for a quick healing, I remembered God’s control over every quality and condition of my life.
My life was not a material accident reeling out of control, I knew. My Life was Spirit, a constant state of peace and health reflecting God’s ever-present harmony and control, I accepted without hesitation.
With rock solid conviction, I said to mortal mind, “The bleeding will stop now!” I did not question this declaration. I believed what I said.
As I cleaned myself up with Kleenex, I was overwhelmed with gratitude to note that the gusher stopped within seconds. A wet spot remained on my head, but the crisis was over.
I got composed. Thanked God for the quick help. Rejoiced over Mind’s absolute control, lit up with love and gratitude, and walked to the nearest restroom. No one noticed.
The wound became a non-issue in short order, and all is well with me.
I am grateful.
Thank You Evan for the happy ending. A surprise that came from nowhere, incapable of inflicting a damaging wound.
In 2000 I bought a cube van. I was out getting something done while it was empty. I saw another stalled cube van on the highway. I stopped to give help.
There were two young men and a load of furniture going not far away. I told them to load it into my truck.
When we arrived at the delivery I went back to open the twin rear cargo doors. I flipped the latch handle. It was improperly closed. It sprang at my jaw and clobbered me as would George Forman! I could not suffer for doing a good deed nor being a kind neighbor.
I was fine after a few seconds. Your experience with an unexpected force brought many of this nature to mind.
We are not targets for unexpected hurt. The proper thinking will alleviate damage.

Wonderful healing, Evan – thank you for sharing. It illustrates clearly for me the nothingness of matter,
and goes beautifully with this week’s Lesson on “Substance”. It also reminds me that we need
to be quick off the mark in denying what the material senses are conveying, not to be impressed
with them, and then if there seems to be still some evidence of a problem,, to shows we are convinced of the Truth, and to speak with authority to the lie as its master. We need to be “prayed up”
before we start our day, and then we are ready to tackle anything that come up.

power of Christian Science that declares the nothingness of matter.

That was a truly wonderful healing, Evan! Thank you for sharing it with us. I am
reminded when I first moved here, I had locked myself out of the house, just as
it was turning dark, without my phone, as I had just gone down the basement to
get something. There was a window that had a crack in it that needed replacement
eventually anyway, so broke it and crawled in, Because it was then dark, I didn’t
realize there was a shard of glass still on the window that gauged my leg very badly.
I felt like I was going to pass out, but Knew God’s power to heal. As I cleaned up
the glass so the dogs wouldn’t step in it and secure the window so the cat wouldn’t
go out, I kept Knowing that God is my Life and we are not made of blood, bones, or
matter. I was able to clean and stop the bleeding in a short time and calmly read
a recent Sentinel. There was no pain and the wound quickly healed, without a
scar. God is with us All of the time, no matter what difficulty we Seem to be
having. I am so grateful for knowing the Truth! And so appreciative to share
this Power of Truth, here.

Evan, -The two things that strike me most (excuse the pun) about this healing: (1) That your first reaction was to protect the children from mortal mind’s frightening and erroneous picture, and (2) Your “coolheadedness”, and absolute confidence that this picture of injury was a complete falsehood, and that the power of Truth would correct the erroneous picture. Thank you for another impressive example of the blessings and the lessons that come from studying and living Christian Science.
That was a wonderful testimony, Evan. I had something almost similar happen last week here at work. We were moving a heavy box out of the office, on a large dolly. My co-worker was incapable of getting it to move -so I took over and gave it a hefty push forward. However, the dolly seemed to have a mind of it’s own and with the heavy box on it, ran right back over my foot instead. I let out a loud “Ouch” and in the next breath declared, “There is no sensation in matter”. There was a moment of intense silence in the office, and I knew everyone in the room was declaring the same truth as I had just done. We moved the box out the door and I never gave my foot another thought, because my foot was perfect just as God had intended all along without any pain or injury.

Evan thank you for sharing that wonderful healing experience and telling us how you prayed. I was impressed by the absolute and immediate dominion you claimed over error, especially when you stated to error, “The bleeding will stop now!” The boldness of that almost shocked me. But yes we do have the right to be so bold if we are standing on spiritual understanding. Mrs. Eddy said that we should, “mentally insist that harmony is the fact.” (S&H p. 412)
Wow, Evan! Wonderful healing. I want you to know that years ago I attended a lecture of yours Montpelier, Vermont. It was very inspiring and lifted me out of a gloomy headspace. Shortly after that, I had a challenging diagnosis, but CS kept me on the up and up, and in the Truth about it. Thank you for your Spirit-filled work.

Thank you for these healing testimonies. This made me remember a healing where I was rinsing out a Spam can that had a sharp edge and cut into my thumb. I couldn’t stop the bleeding and then remembered to pray and declared that there are no accidents in divine Mind and I saw the bleeding stop. The thumb healed quickly and I can’t see any evidence that it happened because in Spirit it didn’t. This was in the early 60’s. This instant proof of God’s Care for us has stayed with me through many more instant healings and I am so grateful.
